Weekending
Friday evening we had dinner with friends at a restaurant in town called Doubleday’s. We had a great time at dinner and had plans to go afterwards to North Park to watch a Journey tribute band play. But it was just so hot, the heat was enervating, and those who worked were tired from the work week- relaxing at home afterward sounded good. We parted ways briefly for us to go home to put away leftovers and to change into more comfy clothes and then Donnie and I drove to our friends’ house (whom we’d just had dinner with) to watch a movie at their house.
I’d had a late lunch and ordered an appetizer for my dinner (which I didn’t even finish- enjoyed the rest for lunch on Sunday!).
On our way back to our friends' house, my friend called and asked what kind of ice cream I wanted because she was going to DoorDash some for the movie. I was like, “No, DoorDashing on my watch when we are about ready to pass a store that sells ice cream. I will pick up some for us.” We stopped at a CVS where there wasn’t much of a selection. We enjoyed watching a movie with our friends and then we headed home.
Not a fan of the ice cream company and this flavor was a little disappointing. The peanut butter cookie dough bites were too big. Other than that, it was good.
Saturday morning, Donnie and Alyssa played pickleball. It was the first time that Donnie and Alyssa had played together. They enjoyed it but it was getting hot fast so they didn’t play for too long. After Donnie showered, he and I headed to Sam’s Club. Oh boy, Sam’s was BUSY (it always is on a Saturday but it seemed even more so on this Saturday).
The pizza pretzel was good as usual and the people watching was... well, it was what it was!
I picked up these at Sam’s after taking a picture of Tanya´s blog to get the ones she recommended. Alyssa had some on Sunday and liked them.
Saturday around dinnertime, Abby’s boyfriend came over to the house and then we all went to Centerville to eat at Agave & Rye. Abby’s boyfriend had never eaten there and we’d talked it up quite a bit. Of course after talking it up, we had to have a less than spectacular time. The music was super loud making it hard to converse without shouting and my taco was way too salty to be properly enjoyable, but it was nice to spend some time with Abby’s boyfriend and talk when the music ebbed quieter... After dinner, we walked to Bill’s Donuts for some... donuts... Bill’s was .4 miles from the restaurant. I think that is the furthest that I have walked with my boot; by next weekend, it should be off so hopefully .4 miles remains my record!
Sunday we went to church- heard a great service and then chatted with our friends Doug and Laura. Enjoyed catching up with them and then we headed home where I stayed for the rest of the day. We had rain on and off throughout the day which was great but we didn’t get much any of the times that it rained. When I went out to check on my plants later in the day, the ground was bone dry- you’d never known we had rain.
Donnie ran out to get a few things for the yard. I read, worked on a photo project and tried to take a nap (unsuccessful). It was a good and mostly quiet weekend (Sam’s Club and Agave & Rye were the exceptions). We enjoyed spending time together. I am hoping that this weekend goes down in history as the last one that I will have been in a boot. 😊
I actually just got a Sam’s card, but I still haven’t been in yet! It’s an hour and a half away, which is probably why, but I do plan to make the trip soon. That pizza pretzel looks fantastic and I’m sure Zeke and Zoey would love to try it!
ReplyDeleteYour kids would like it for sure, Megan! It´s full of cheese, not too much sauce and you can taste the pretzel with each bite. I hope you enjoy shopping at Sam´s when you go. I would try to avoid going on the weekends (when we always seem to go!) but other than that, I think you will love it, especially with your large family and teenage boy(s?) who eat a lot!

ReplyDeleteThank you! Our grass is still looking rough- it recovered a little but not too much. We are definitely entering our dry spell- you just get used to watering flowers and plants.

DeleteLoud music in a restaurant is so annoying! We have never Door Dashed anything. I don't think they even offer it in our area. We did once have a pizza delivered to our camper in a Walmart parking lot. Does that count?!?
ReplyDeleteThe loud music made me ragey. I was so looking forward to the simple pleasure of conversation with my meal. It was not meant to be, readily at least. I can´t with DoorDash- it is really popular here. People DD everything from cookies at Crumbl, to fast food places, to nice restaurants. I understand if you´ve been drinking and shouldn´t drive, but other than that, I just can´t imagine paying for my food to be delivered and then having to tip on top of that. Our friends do it often but I don´t have it within me. Regarding pizza delivery to your camper, you are lucky they delivered to you. I have heard that some pizza places will only order to a home address. They have weird rules like they won´t meet a customer at a certain location if the person´s home location is out of the delivery area. I had to wait until I was out of Cornfield Country ie in college to be in a location where I could get pizza delivery.
DeleteHere's hoping that boot comes off this week! My girls will tell you I play my music a little too loud when I'm alone in the car lol, but I don't like it loud it loud in a restaurant. It was a scorcher here this weekend too, and I think will be all week. Have a great day!

DeleteI hope you will like the burrito's. We saw a Van Halen tribute band a few months ago and were really disappointed. For some reason, they chose to play a bunch of obscure VH songs instead of the hits. Yea for the end of the boot!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya! I think that I will like the burritos- especially if Alyssa says they are good :). That is too bad about the VH band playing obscure sounds. There is an Eagles tribute band playing this weekend that we may go and see (if it isn´ too hot!!).
