UPitP- April 20-24 E- learning got "lite(r)" and Clifton Gorge(ous)

Another school week concluded at home. Here's how the week went:

Monday, April 20- The weather was beautiful- sunny with temps in the mid sixties. Jacob didn't have to work for which he was grateful. He and I ran an errand in the afternoon. The girls laid out in the afternoon after they finished their school work. I hadn't made soup for dinner in a long time- of course had to pick a day when the temperature was warm and pleasant. Still, no one complained at soup for dinner on a beautiful spring day.  This was the day that our governor officially announced that e-learning would be done at home for the duration of the school year. The students wouldn't be returning to school on May 4th as had been the original date for resuming in school learning. This was not shocking news at all. I would have been shocked if it was announced that students were going back to school this school year. Almost every state around us had already called off the school year.

Tuesday- The girls did their school work in the morning. In the afternoon, Alyssa and I headed to Clearcreek park to run/ walk. We ended up running way more than we walked and when we ran, we ran at a much faster pace than I run on my own. It was a good, but tiring work out. The weather was not quite as nice as Monday- it was very windy.

Wednesday- This was another nice day, temperature wise. Abby and I walked to Drug Mart to pick out items to bring to our church's food drive. We didn't buy too much (we were on foot after all) but I had some items I'd picked up at Kroger previously that I was going to also bring to the church. This was also the day when we found out that school lite was getting significantly "lite(r)" as in more lite. It's hard to imagine school work decreasing but that's just the decision that school administrators made for our "excellent" rated school district. Instead of two days of assignments per week during e-learning, students will be getting one assignment per week per class. I  have so many thoughts on this subject but will limit my response here to three words: Oh. My. Word.

Thursday was rainy. Yeah!  While that precluded comfortably exercising during the day, I'm still glad that it rained. My plants needed it. We didn't do a whole lot during the day- the usual- for the girls, a tiny amount of school work and for me, reading, organizing, talking to/ texting with friends and family. In the afternoon, the girls and I did pedicures.  A friend had given me some foot products as a birthday present. It wasn't very exciting but it was fun for the standard that now defines fun :). Later in the afternoon, I drove to our church and dropped off the bags of food we had for the food drive.

Friday was a little cooler but it wasn't rainy. I thought it would be enjoyable to hike at a place with some water features since it had rained on Thursday- creeks and falls would be more robust due to the rain. We decided to go to Clifton Gorge. It's in Greene County- the county to the east of us. Greene County is home to some beautiful parks that we've been to in the past couple of years- John Bryon State Park and Glen Helen Nature Preserve to name a couple of places. The drive was a little over forty minutes but time is plentiful, gas is cheap and the drive in mostly bucolic Warren and Greene County is a picturesque one so I didn't mind the forty+ minute drive to get to Clifton Gorge.

Clifton Gorge was gorge(ous) - The large rocks, the waterfalls, seeing and hearing the rushing waters of the Little Miami River careening through the gorge. We loved it all! The girls and I want to come to Clifton Gorge again and bring the boys (both of whom were working when we went on Friday) with us.

It was so, so pretty. I felt like we were walking through an enchanted forest...
