Spring break days 6 and 7- Thursday and Friday, April 9-10
Between not having a good short term memory, legally not being able to do much except be at home or take a walk outside, not writing anything down or taking many pictures, I'm having trouble recalling what we did on Thursday and Friday (I mentioned legally not being able to do much except be at home or walking outside because that tells me that I know for a fact we didn't do anything exciting (but doesn't help me recall what we did)).
I know that the weather was not great on Thursday because I texted one of my out of state family members about the weather. I think we were all in fairly bad moods on Thursday, during the day at least. We couldn't decide what to do indoors so I made the decision to get some work done. We'd been fairly non productive that week, which was fine. It was the girls' spring break and I wanted to try to make it as fun as possible especially since our trip to Florida couldn't happen. But, things needed to get done and with no one being able to think of anything to do besides stare at a screen, I decided we'd do some work.
We went through a lot of storage areas, mainly in the basement and threw a lot of things out. It was good to get some organization done. The girls next did some chores (at least they were told to do them. I think one of the girls "forgot" to do her chores).
I don't remember how the rest of the day progressed. These are some things that we've been doing (in general) during our stay at home time so it's likely we did them on Thursday and/ or Friday:
*Abby has been working on dance in the basement. She watches videos that her dance teachers post and she watches videos that well known dancers post.
*Alyssa and I are watching Dance Moms- there are sooooo many episodes and seasons. We've been watching it for a long time (pre- pandemic). We enjoy pointing out the absurdities in most of the mama drama (ie, 99% of the drama is likely contrived for the show). I watched Dance Moms with Abby years ago although we stopped at some point. Right now, we're watching one to two episodes a day.
*Jacob is doing school work which is taking a decent amount of time. He starts a part time job later this week so his days are about to change.
*All three kids spend a decent amount of their free time looking at their phones- Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat- they are probably like the vast majority of teens in this regard...
*The kids all work out occasionally in the basement. We have exercise equipment and weights. Abby and Donnie maintain a lifting schedule but that happens in the evening when Donnie is home. Throughout the day, while the kids don't seem to have any particular schedule, they'll go down to the basement to work out periodically.
*Abby likes to paint so she's been doing some painting on small canvases (small canvases were all I could buy at Wal-Mart so that's why she's painting on small canvases).
*As I've mentioned here, we try to get out and walk on nice and niceish days just to get out of the house and to move with a destination in mind. Abby and I occasionally go on bike rides.
*When I'm not doing something with a child(ren), I'm usually reading. I've read some really good books recently. I've also been keeping in much more regular contact with my family, mainly via text than I ever have before. No one from my family lives close to us so it's interesting to discuss what is happening in the various areas that we live vis- a- vis "things" being taken away from us/ made illegal, etc. during the pandemic.
Friday was Good Friday. Friday morning, Abby and I went to the grocery store. I didn't want to wait until Saturday because of what I was hoping to have for Easter dinner. If stores didn't have turkeys available to purchase, I was going to have to think of something else to have. But I didn't want to wait until Saturday to know if turkeys were available; that wouldn't give me as much time to decide on something else. So, I went Friday morning. I was able to get a turkey and the trimmings that I needed for our Easter meal.
I do not remember what the rest of the day entailed. I watched a Billy Graham video on YouTube and tried to convince others to do the same but no one else wanted to watch it. After dinner, we watched our pastor's video regarding Good Friday. It was a great reminder of the eternal importance of the day and how fortunate we are to have our sins forgiven just by asking.
I took ONE picture on Thursday and Friday- I took a picture of my Chromebook screen that shows the title of the Billy Graham video that I watched on Good Friday. I wanted to know the name of it so I could look it up easily in case we watched it later as a family.
