Spring break day 2- Sunday, April 5

Didn't wake up in Florida as we would have done had we not been in a pandemic.

I slept in until 7:30 which felt luxuriously late. When I woke up, I considered going on a run but suddenly I heard the sound of rain pelting the windows and staying under covers just sounded better than running in the rain. I was glad when I heard the rain because I hadn't watered the garden since I'd planted pea seeds the previous week and I knew the seeds needed rain.

We watched our church's sermon on TV after everyone woke up and had breakfast.  Our pastor is starting a new series so the sermon on Sunday was the first one. It was a good one. The pastor mentioned that the church is still collecting food for food banks because the need is so great. I made a mental note to drop food off on Monday that we'd been collecting.

The rest of the day was very low key/ unexciting. Donnie had to run an errand so he picked up a couple of things that I'd forgotten I needed when I was at the store the day before. I kept Alyssa company in the dining room while she worked on her puzzle. Jacob worked on school work. Abby had a zoom call in with some of her dance friends.

Our fun adventure for the day was walking into downtown Springboro to get food from a food truck. The food truck can't go to festivals this spring since there are no festivals so it will be selling food from the truck on the weekends. We were so looking forward to the bourbon chicken that we planned to buy from the food truck. As we approached the street where it was, I was worried when we couldn't smell anything delicious. Alas, the place was selling no more food because they'd run out of chicken. Oh dear, that's what we had planned on having for dinner. We walked home, dejected and bereft of chicken.

Fortunately, I had meat thawed in the fridge. Donnie had ingredients to make guacamole so he did that. I made homemade queso and cooked meat seasoned with taco seasoning. Alyssa made Spanish rice. So, we ended with a really good meal but many dirty dishes. Oh well, we had time to do them and nothing else on the agenda. Next weekend, we'll have bourbon chicken and no clean up for one of our meals...

After dinner, Alyssa worked on her puzzle and we all watched some TV. I went out for a run but had to cut it short due to a pain in one of my legs. And that was about it for the day.

One exciting thing- only in the days when exciting things are few and far in between- our crocus bloomed on Sunday. Every year I forget that we have them and am so pleasantly surprised to see their simple beauty (there are a few advantages to having a bad memory and this is one of them :)).
