Weekending
Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday
Had a nice weekend with time spent with family, friends and some productivity-
We celebrated National Pizza Day on Friday! We have pizza most Fridays, so the celebration marker wasn't super unique; nonetheless, we enjoyed our pizza and the special that Donatos had going on due to it being National Pizza Day. I didn't get a picture, but Donnie and I had a hot honey pepperoni pizza while Alyssa just had pepperoni on her pizza.
Saturday was a quick run and then Alyssa and I ran a couple of errands. She wanted coffee at Dunkin'. Her favorite Dunks just reopened after having gone through a renovation.
Once home, we got ready to do some painting in the guest room. Donnie would have helped but he and one of his college friends and his friend's sons got together so Donnie wasn't around. Alyssa and I painted the bead board paneling in the guest room. It hadn't been painted since it was put on the walls and painted about eighteen years ago. I didn't think it looked that bad but up close it was definitely in need of a coat of paint.
For dinner, we met our friends Clint and Christine at a place here in Springboro that is frequented by the locals quite a bit we don't go too often. The service was good but slow and before we had finished eating, my brother John texted me to ask me where we were. John was coming to visit us from Illinois and had arrived at our house. He told me that he thought he'd be to our house around 8:00 pm but he arrived at our house by 7:15 while we were still at dinner. We paid our bill and then left to go home and see John.
We watched the IU/ Purdue basketball game. John and I are Indiana U. fans. Unfortunately, IU is in its slump era. Maybe someday basketball greatness will return- right now, rival Purdue is enjoying winning seasons. My late brother Jay was and my little brother Joe is a huge Purdue fan. So, while I don't like Purdue much, if IU is going to be terrible, I don't mind Purdue being good.
Sunday, we tried to go on a hike. We drove out to Hueston Woods State Park, but the trails were super muddy, and we weren't dressed for walking on muddy trails. So, we went to the visitors center to look around, went to the covered bridge at the park and then went to see Abby. Her college is not far from Hueston Woods State Park. We didn't spend long with Abby at all. She had a lot to do. I needed to pick something up from her and I gave her Valentine's presents.
We came home and watched the Superbowl. None of us cared too much who won. None of us watching liked either team very much... I guess it was a pretty good game. By the end, I wanted the 49ers to win so I was mildly disappointed that they lost. But again, I didn't care much at all!!

I missed National Pizza Day!! Huge sigh and so disappointing. I don't celebrate all the random "national" days (who could?) but Pizza Day is one I could get behind for sure! Glad your brother was able to visit and glad you weren't too terribly far from home when he arrived:) Hope your week is off to a good start. Did you get snow?? We had some flurries this morning -
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! No snow for us- glad you didn´t get too much. About National Pizza Day, we eat pizza most Fridays so we ¨celebrate¨ pizza close to fifty times a year ;). I was happy for the special prices! My brother said that traffic was moving very fast (85 mph) and he was going with the flow which is why he was early. I would have been in the slow lane, feeling like a rebel for going five miles over the limit at 70 :).
DeleteI always forget about Hueston Woods - we need to take our kiddos there next time we're up and the weather was nice. My husband says "everything's rigged" so we were disappointed but not surprised when the Chiefs won :/. I love a good painting refresh - enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking the same thing about the Superbowl- my son bet a modest amount of money in anticipation of Taylor´s win, lol. Hueston Woods is huge! We´ve only been once as a family. We enjoyed our hike. The lodge looks nice and there´s all sorts of camping options. Thanks about the room- I can´t wait to pain the rest of the room :).
DeleteLooks like a great weekend! I only watched a little of the game and only to spot Taylor Swift- ha! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Holly! It was a good weekend. Her guy didn´t do much until later in the game so the sightings weren´t that often until towards the end.
DeleteI worked late on Friday, so we had a frozen pizza for dinner. Nothing fancy, but I didn't even realize it was pizza day until the next day! A coat of paint can make all the difference and that is a good project. I was hoping the 49ers would win too for the Super Bowl. I don't really watch much NFL until the playoffs anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn! My husband actually referenced Friday being National Pizza which I found funny- he usually does not get into those ¨national days.¨ I was grateful for the pizza specials ;). I love a good frozen pizza but no one else in the family really does.
DeleteI was rooting for the 49ers too! There are several areas of my house that need painting or touching up, but with a toddler it’s not happening anytime soon. I love pizza! It’s my favorite food.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Megan! I can´t imagine painting with a toddler so, yes, your paint projects will probably have to wait a few years!
DeleteThat sounds like a fun weekend. We tried (Okay, thought about!) hiking today but it was so snowy and so windy that we talked ourselves right out of it!
ReplyDeleteDid you get all the snow? Sounds like you must have gotten some! I love to walk in the snow but a windy, cold day would make me reconsider a plan to walk outside as well.
