Weekending

Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday

We had a nice weekend- relaxing with plenty of fun thrown in with a bonus of a little productivity.

Friday was pizza out (picked up and brought home) and an evening in. Alyssa was out so it was just the two of us at home.

Saturday was an early run, some relaxing and then when Donnie finished his work out, we took a look at the room that we are turning into a guest room. It’s Jacob’s room and we have plenty of decisions to make about the extent to which we want to change it. For instance, the paint color is fine but maybe we should change it? There’s white bead board on the lower half of the wall that probably should be repainted white but maybe not? We think we’ve come to some decisions and Donnie did some concrete work- he removed a shelf/ storage item from the wall and then patched the holes in the wall.

We originally didn’t have any plans until after dinner. I called Jacob to ask him about some items in his(ish?) room. He was at the gym and told me that he’d call me later. When he returned my call, we talked about the items and then he asked if Donnie and I would want to meet him and do some shopping with him. He received Visa gift cards for birthday/ Christmas that he wanted to use. The timing worked out perfectly. We were gone for several hours but we still had plenty of time for our evening plans.

We met at the Kenwood Mall in Montgomery. It is a large mall and still really busy on weekends. It has some great stores that are fun to shop at that we don’t have near us. The mall nearest to us, the Dayton Mall, is in a real decline and is practically a ghost town.

I found a few things for me!

Anyway, after dinner, we drove to On Par Entertainment in Beavercreek. This is a very large adult playground type place. Inside there is mini bowling, mini golf, karaoke and more. After nine PM it is over 21 and over. My friend Kristine rented a private room for karaoke for her husband’s birthday. There is a non private area for karaoke but it was very crowded and super loud. It was nice to have a room full of Clint’s friends and to be able to laugh and carry on with just ourselves. On Par has a tap room area with a huge variety of adult drinks that you help yourself to (obviously there is a payment system- you have a CC on file and then tap a card that’s tied to your CC every time you want a drink). Sodas were free which was really nice. The place was very loud- the non private room with lots of activity going on. If you had sensory type issues this would not be a good place but besides that, I can’t imagine anyone not having fun here! We plan to go back sometime.

Sunday was church followed by going to the grocer store. I ran into a friend who I used to see a lot due to kids’ activities but I don’t see regularly anymore. We ended up talking for close to an hour and a half. We were in a good spot to not be too much of an annoyance to shoppers. Happy to say that not too many people needed Little Debbie snack cakes since that is where we ran into each other and that is where we stayed while we chatted. Maybe two people reached for a Zebra or other type cake while we were standing there :). I had almost done a grocery pick up and was so glad that I decided to go into the store to shop!

That was about it for the weekend...

  4. It is good to hear that there is a mall out there that is still busy. It seems like most we go to are so dead that you have to wonder how they stay open at all.

    1. For sure! That´s how a lot of malls are around here are. The Kenwood Mall is nice with some good stores in them- and hordes of people shopping in them. That´s what we were shocked at!

    1. Thanks, Marilyn! Yes, off to a good start- we don´t need to be in too much of a hurry and we are used to being idle on the weekends, lol. We need to flex some ¨getting thing done¨ muscles!
