Friday Photos

A look back at the week, Monday thru Friday, through photos and screenshots.

It was a pretty good week. We saw the sun, albeit briefly and not until Friday after probably at least ten days of overcast skies. January ended (though I am not one who dislikes the month!) and we ushered in a longer February than normal thanks to this year being a leap year.

I only subbed two days and they were both good days so nothing to complain about there. I was a floating sub both days and during one of the school days where I floated, I had some down time when teachers’ meetings didn’t last as long as they were scheduled.  I spent more time than usual in the teachers’ lounge due to not needing to be in the classroom as much. 

The lounge has tables and a kitchenette for eating lunches but it also has a living room type set up with two small couches, chairs, and a coffee table with magazines. During one of my breaks, I browsed through one of the magazines- it was air fryer recipe magazine. I was mesmerized because a) such a magazine exists and I had no idea and 2) so many of the recipes looked really good. I ended up taking pictures of about eight recipes to try at home with our air fryer. One of them I tried at home that very evening… We were having my very favorite meal- LEFTOVERS!-but realized that no one would complain if we had something besides the leftovers.

Teachers’ lounge- a nice space makes leaving to go to a classroom that much harder, lol.

These Scotch eggs are what I made at home. Traditional Scotch eggs recipe call for panko and frying the eggs. I liked the cornflake twist and air frying them.

This is what they looked like after the cornflake crumbs were added and they were air fried. Donnie and I both had one and thought they were OK. (Alyssa did not want one!) I like sausage and eggs but I prefer the eggs in a sausage and egg combo to be heated through and cooked on the stove. 

The following day, I needed one item for dinner (not a need, more of a want by the fussiest member of the household) and decided to walk to a nearby (1.7 miles from the house) store rather than drive to Kroger for the item. 

On the way back, I took a couple of pictures in our downtown. A few places still have Christmas decor up (and a few houses still have Christmas trees lit up at night in their homes). I kind of like the way-past-Christmas-decor-still being up look. (Maybe it is because I am not one of those organized, tidy people, lol.)

One store had its Valentine’s Day decor out and I loved that as well. (Maybe I just like decor in general :))

My favorite home decor boutique had me at hearts on the sign/ placard thing and I decided to go on in to take a look.

Love this wool rug that I think would work well in Jacob’s room that we are turning into a guest room. Will have to take measurements when the new bed is in that room.

Speaking of the guest room, we joined Sam’s Club this week after a year of not being in the club in order to get items for the room and for other purchases. 

I’d missed the .89 big gulp as well.

Had lunch with a friend and made plans to get together soon to do some crafting. I can’t wait!

Tell ‘em Tuck!

Ok, so this is hyperbole (I think?). But, if your health insurance is through a #smallbusiness, chances are you are paying an astronomical sum for the insurance AND then when you do need medical procedures, you will pay a huge amount in medical bills because the insurance coverage is so bad. Ask me how I know and I will share sad tales of crazy high bills. (And when Alyssa goes to college and if I decide to work full time, it will likely be for a government entity because, benefits.)

As for Canada, MAiD (government assisted suicide) is no laughing matter. But raising awareness of the dangers of thinking that the slippery slope fear is unfounded is necessary. Using the government to assist in suicide for the terminally ill is how such assistance gains a foothold within a country and is touted as compassionate. But then, you hear stories of expanding the scope of it to depressed people, the homeless, etc. and it raises your hackles. Remember when a woman in Canada complained about how long she was waiting for a piece of equipment to make her life easier (she was paralyzed and was wanting a chairlift)? She says a caseworker within the VA (she’s a veteran) offered to assist her with euthanasia rather than continue to wait for the chairlift.
