Break from plans
It was supposed to have been a very busy weekend... I'll start with Thursday. Alyssa had a soccer game (her team won easily). Friday night, Jacob was supposed to have a soccer game. Saturday, he was to play three lacrosse games in Middletown. Donnie and I were going to have dinner with friends in Cincinnati Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon, Alyssa had a soccer game, followed immediately by a birthday party and then Jacob had a soccer game in Springfield later that day.
Only some of those activities happened... Jacob broke his wrist on Friday evening before his soccer game even started. He and I were at Children's Hospital for hours on Friday night. We stumbled into the door early Saturday morning from the hospital, Jacob with a cast over his elbow and feeling nauseous from the anesthesia. I was dead tired and one of my contacts had become infected that evening and as a result of that, one of my eyes was red and painful.
The weekend was not off to a good start!
Jocob's done with lacrosse for the season. Soccer is a maybe if/ when he gets a smaller cast on. He'll see an orthopedic soon. So on a gorgeous Saturday when Jakey was supposed to be playing lacrosse all day at Smith Park in Middletown, he was still feeling the effects of anesthesia and letting us all know his thoughts on the fate that had recently fallen on him. By Sunday, Jacob was feeling OK physically- just mentally ticked off about the immobility of his arm.
The hapless fortune of Jacob worked to Alyssa's advantage. She had been invited to a surprise birthday party on Saturday evening. She wasn't going to be able to go because Donnie and I were going to be at dinner in Cincinnati at the time we needed to drop her off at her friend's house. Donnie and I canceled our dinner plans because of Jacob's break which freed us up to take Alyssa to Hailey's house in the evening. She loved sleeping over at her friend's house. She also had fun at Hailey's birthday party and won her soccer game on Sunday. Yes, Alyssa's weekend was pretty darn good!
Thursday's game- we won easily 5-0.
You can't see much of Alyssa in this picture- just her leg foot making contact with the ball.
Getting ready to kick the ball...
Sunday's game- we won this game easily as well. I believe it was 5-1. One of the parents from the other team was kicked out of the game for yelling at the ref. The parents were a little rough around the edges.
Defending the goal from a corner kick...
