Tis the season...
No, not that season yet! Around here, it's the season for tournaments. By the end of this weekend's Creek Classic, Jacob will have played in eight tournaments this spring between soccer and lacrosse. Alyssa made her tournament debut a couple of weekends ago in the Strawberry Soccer Tournament (Jacob's team was in the same tournament). We have been busy soccer & lacrosse mom/ dad/ coach. Regarding the Strawberry Tournament, Coach Don made that happen for Alyssa's team. Since her CU team is a junior academy team, it doesn't participate in tournaments as part of the normal season. Throw in a coach, though, who wants his team to play in one, and it can be done! Donnie did a lot of work to get Alyssa's CU team (who had to play up a year) into the Strawberry Tournament. Alyssa's team had early Saturday and Sunday games so everyone on the team got hotel rooms for both nights. The girls on Alyssa's team had a ton of fun together. They all swam in the hotel's pool and ate dinners at the same restaurants. They didn't have success in the tournament; Donnie wasn't too disappointed since they were playing girls who were a year older than they were.
Jacob's lacrosse season ended with the first (annual, I'm assuming from here on out) Springboro Shootout Tournament at North Park. Jacob's team played four games and made it to the finals where they lost to a Carmel, IN team. If you're driving two + hours to go to a tournament, you know you're good. The Carmel team was good, although we hung with them and could have won. Jacob played great in all four games. He scored in each game and scored two goals in two of the games. It was a good, if not great, ending to the season. His team improved greatly over the season and Jacob did, too. His coaches complimented us several times on Jacob's good play.
The girl in blue doesn't stand a chance at getting the ball... Alyssa is closer to it and mostly likely faster than her year older opponent!
