St. Louis
We went on a very short trip to St. Louis last week to see Chelsea play a soccer match at Busch Stadium. Since Chelsea doesn't play many games in the US, Donnie likes to take advantage of the times when they do. He bought tickets to the game as soon as they were on sale from Stubhub. He didn't get front row seats like he did for the Miami game. One front row seat was selling for $23,000! Seriously. He was able to get good seats (without paying any sum that had the word "thousand" after it) so away we went.
The match was on a Thursday evening. If taking the kids out of school for two days in the second to last week of school sounds like a good idea, trust me, it isn't. With the dance season winding down, Abby's dance studio owner had pictures scheduled for Thursday evening. I didn't ask her to change the date; I merely told her that Abby would have to miss the pictures. Thankfully, she changed the date of the picture taking. Abby missed business day at school on Friday where she was supposed to "sell" a product that she made (the third graders were given fake money with which to buy the fourth graders products). Jacob missed at least one test. Thankfully, everything the kids had going on and missed did not seem to be a huge problem.
We left late Wednesday after Jacob's lacrosse and Alyssa's soccer practice and drove three hours to western Indiana where we spent the night. The next morning, we drove to St. Louis. Actually, we drove past St. Louis to go to a mall in Chesterfield (west of the city) to surprise the girls with a trip to the American Girl doll store there. They were completely surprised and incredibly happy to find themselves transported to an AG store! We let them get a doll but told them they would not be getting another doll when the AG store opens in Columbus next month.
Jacob, Donnie and Alyssa went to the soccer match. Abby and I walked down with them (our hotel was about 1/2 mile away from the stadium) and I was able to get some pictures of them right in front of the stadium. Chelsea lost the game 4-3 but Donnie and kids enjoyed just being there.
The following day, we visited the Gateway Arch. We enjoyed the four minute ride to the top of the arch and liked gazing out the small windows when we made it to the top.
Our little trip ended almost before it began, but that's how we generally like our trips- short and sweet!!
