This is 40!
We celebrated my 40th birthday last Saturday. It was two weeks after my birthday, but better late than never, right? I did have a few smaller celebrations closer to my birthday: lunch with my friend Denise, lunch with my friend Becky, two large pizzas from Uno's for my birthday dinner (not just for my consumption) on my actual day, and we had a mini celebration when the girls and I were in Indiana the week after my birthday.
So, we went to Hofbrauhaus in Newport, KY. I thought the kids would like having dinner at a restaurant they've never been to. Ugh, what was I thinking? Jacob was pining to leave from the get-go. One of his friends wanted to get together with him and Jacob hated that we were about an hour away from home. Plus, with a large party at a restaurant, everything takes longer. The girls were OK as long as they were eating (kind of like toddlers!) but they did not care for the adults sitting around eating (and maybe drinking a beer or two or three or four). I can't blame the kids too much. I somehow thought the excitement of my birthday dinner would make up for not being with friends and sitting around kind of doing nothing at a restaurant. It clearly didn't :-). I guess I still have a lot to learn even though I'm forty and have been a mom for 12 1/2 years!!
The five of us outside the restaurant
Abby & Daddy
The birthday gal and Cindy
Lyss-Byss
Good times!
Daddy, his daughter and beer. What could be better??
Ok, obviously as a teetotaler, I don't condone this (and of course Jacob didn't really drink any) but it cracks me up. I can't tell if Donnie is proud of Jacob or displeased that if he drinks some, there will be less beer in the glass!
