Had a pretty nice, hot weekend!

Friday was a busy one as I was heading back from Canada after a short visit with my sister. I will likely write about that later. I arrived home shortly after Donnie arrived home from work.

We left for the movies about an hour later. We met up with friends to see the movie, "Am I Racist?" The movie is based on Matt Walsh's premise that most people judge others by their character, not the color of their skin. But for some, the allure of capitalizing on "white guilt" for financial gain and/or wanting to spread division among people of different races supersedes a common sense guide of character judgement. The movie was both funny and sad.

Saturday morning, I worked on a blog post while Donnie played around with some new music equipment he bought recently. Late in the morning, we headed north to Donne's work picnic. 

Our destination was not Springfield, OH (which has been on the news a lot recently) but we did head north. The picnic was held a fishing club north of Dayton.

Amber waves of corn? We are in a drought and need rain desperately. 

This tableau would be better if those corn stalks were a healthy green. 

We had a nice time at the picnic- lots of good food, good conversation and not quite so fun Bingo games :(.

We were at the picnic for hours as we helped to clean up after it ended. 

Saturday evening, I went up to Columbus to see Alyssa. I had to give her something. I ended up spending the night in Columbus and coming back the next day after Alyssa and I went to the grocery store to pick up snacks for her and lunch.

We also did some shopping on campus.

Lunch was a good one at a good restaurant near campus called Cap City Fine Diner and Bar.

Another Sunday, another Bengals loss :(. The Bengals lost to the Chiefs after the Chiefs kicked a field goal in the last few seconds of the game to give them the lead. I hated to see the Bengals lose but I do have a lot of admiration for the Chiefs kicker, Harrison Butker, which made his winning field goal a little more palatable.  He made some controversial statements at a commencement address earlier this year. The statements were in alignment with Scripture but not the current post Christian zeitgeist. I really like this quote by Butker in the fallout from his statements (where many on the left were calling for the Chiefs to fire him). He said, “Our love for Jesus and thus our desire to speak out should never be outweighed by the longing of our fallen nature to be loved by the world.” I appreciate his candor and courage if not his ability to kick a ball through a post that results in my team to lose. 

Another assassination on Trump from someone on the left (aren't they supposed to be tolerant?? Can't we all just got along (or at least not kill our political foes? Not so much?) Trump staying alive is going to be his new goal for the election season. My stars. 

After the Bengals game ended, Donnie and I went on a walk, and then relaxed by watching some TV.
