Linking up with Jennifer for Currently-

That which we are currently loving, looking forward to, smelling, watching, and admiring

Loving-

Finding new routines in our recently empty nest and looking forward to spending time together now that the newness of being empty nesters is fading.

Diet Cherry Coke- so good! I wish that I didn't drink so much pop. It's my guilty pleasure right now- the reign of Diet Dr. Pepper is over (for now!) as long as I can find DCC in stores.

Looking forward to-

All things fall, for the most part. I am undecided about how to decorate the house for fall/ Halloween. I have quite a bit of the latter decorations but part of the reason I put them up was for the kids. They loved dressing up and receiving candy. And even though Alyssa didn't trick or treat the past few years, she loved to decorate her room and see the decor in the house. Now that there are no kids in the house, I don't know. Maybe I will pivot towards more traditional fall decor.

I am also looking forward to seeing my sister soon.

Smelling

My sense of smell is severely diminished- it will be three years this December- so when I smell something, it is because the scent is strong and/or right in front of my nose.

Even though I can barely smell, I do like to use wax melts in the home. I can kind of smell the scent and others can which is why I really do it. I have a "house" wax melt scent and that is

The reason I call it a house scent is because it's the one that I always use except in November and December when I use a pine tree scented one. Even though "pumpkin" anything is almost inextricably linked to the fall season, I don't think of this as a seasonal scent- it's more like vanilla. Guests comment on how good the house smells when I have these wax melts in the plugged in and turned on warmers.

Watching:

I am only watching one TV show right and that's Bosch on Amazon. It's a series about a cop that was on a few years ago. It has several seasons. We watch one episode an evening when we watch it. I am not a "binge" watcher of anything.

Admiring:

People's crafty handiwork! I would like to be able to crochet or knit. I know that I could learn but honestly don't have a strong desire to invest the time to learn. I just have an admiration for the craft.

I am admiring people who speak their minds about subjects that are a little controversial or not mainstream and who don't worry about the consequences of speaking out. (Or they may worry but decide that stating the truth/ common sense probability is more important to them than any consequence they may receive for speaking out.) For examples, doctors who overtly express misgivings about the impact that Big Pharma´s influence yields in the health care industry- things like that. As always, I admire Christians who rely on the Word of God as the basis for their actions and attitudes, not the worldly, post Christian zeitgeist.

  1. It was such an easy decision for me once the boys moved beyond trick or treating to switch to fall decor since I don't like Halloween at all and really never have but I do love all the cinnamon scented pinecones and pretty colorful leaves and pumpkins. But I have seen houses where they marry the two decors quite well. That scent sounds wonderful; I pretty much like any melt or candle scent that makes it smell like I've been baking up something sweet.

    1. Yes, I think I will put up some Halloween decor but definitely move in the direction of more fall. The scent is really good! Baking smells are so homey :).

    1. I haven´t put up a single piece of decor yet. If I don´t work tomorrow, that´s something I should do!

  3. I'm going to look for that scent to add to my (giant) collection of wax melts! :) My fall decor is pretty minimal, especially when it is just the two of us. I also drink way too much pop (or Coke as we call it in Texas.) It's a hard habit to break, and at this point in my life, I'm not sure I want to break it!

    1. That is how I feel about my pop drinking habit- it´s one of the only vices that I have and I don´t plan on doing too much about it! I used to buy the scent at Walmart (it carries that brand) but lately I have not seen it. Walmart.com´s price was astronomical so I ordered some directly from the manufacturer for a decent price.

  4. Great post! I really admire people's crafty handiwork, too. When I researched my post about the UK Post Box Toppers, I was amazed at the creations of the knitters and crocheters. I can't do either one.

    1. Thanks, Pamela- I know, I see the various colors and patterns in creations and I don´t understand how it´s even possible, lol.

  5. I agree that decorating does seem a little different when the kids are out of the house. I think my decorating has minimized as a result of that, but I still enjoy having some decor and especially like candles and hand soaps that are scented for the seasons.

    1. Yes, I can´t imagine doing no decorating- and for Christmas it´s a no brainer since the kids are home from break.
