Weekending

The weekend was nice- I stayed inside all weekend but it was good, nonetheless.

Friday, Alyssa worked but she made the most the delicious lunch for me- salmon and homemade mashed potatoes.

For dinner, we normally have pizza for dinner but we knew we were having pizza on Saturday evening when friends were coming over so we were a little stumped. Then we remembered that we had leftovers from the meal that Donnie’s dad had brought over (we got three meals out of it which was great for practical reasons and because we both liked it!).

Saturday morning, Donnie and Alyssa ran out to get coffee and they brought me back a Big Gulp ;). Donnie mowed the lawn and I was able to get some work done inside the house. Cleaning out a refrigerator with only one weight bearing leg was a little bit tricky but I got it done. And, boy did it need to be cleaned out! I usually do this task at least once every two weeks; it must have been due for a clean out before my surgery. I know it had not been done since. I was also able to clean the half bath on the main level. Again, not super easy but not insurmountable with one good leg...

Early Saturday evening, we had friends over for dinner and to celebrate my birthday. We hadn’t spent much time at all with our friends since my surgery. It was wonderful to spend the evening together eating, laughing, and playing games together. We played an interactive game on PlayStation which was fun.

And we had cake! Kristine brought this over. It tasted as good as it looks 😀

Sunday morning, we slept in for a bit (almost 7:30...) and then Donnie and Alyssa went out to get coffee and a drink for me. We watched our church’s service online and then Alyssa had to go in to work. Donnie and I had the rest of the day to relax. It was the first Sunday since my surgery that we didn’t have guests over on Sunday. While it is always good to see loved ones, it is also nice to not have entertaining obligations and to truly relax. Donnie did run out for one errand but it didn’t take too long. I had a great book to read on my kindle. I also started a photo book project. We watched a movie together and then later watched an episode of Bloodline on Netflix. I had a great book to read on my kindle. I loved our Sunday at home ;). 

My world has gotten temporarily smaller, that is for sure! Here I am with most of the accouterments that make my days easier/ nicer- my knee scooter, my water, my Big Gulp, my Kindle, lip balm, my glasses, my phone charger (not pictured is my phone- my charger is a symbol for that I guess!)

Oh, I mentioned that it was the first Sunday that we didn’t have guests over which is true... but we did have two people over, very impromptu. Alyssa told us around 8:00 pm that Avery and her dad were coming over, like in the next few minutes (they are neighbors so they could walk over) to get rolling on making housing decisions for college since the girls are rooming together. The girls had their laptops and logged onto their OSU accounts to begin the process for housing selections. They have numerous options and they wanted to make their selections together with us. In addition, we had to pay a registration fee (maybe the only reason they wanted their parents around, lol) and select a date for orientation.
