Friday Photos

A look back at the week- Monday through Friday through photos-

I realized that if I did a Friday Photos post this week, I'd have five posts posted this week on the blog. What? While I'd like to be a five days a week blogger, that is not going to happen most weeks (and/ or likely never again)! I write too slowly and can't justify the time it would take me to write five blog posts weekly. For this week, I already had two posts started and the Currently one consisted of short to write about prompts so that is why I was able to get five blog posts written this week.

Alyssa's boyfriend's family owns a flower farm and she is the lucky recipient of some of the garden bounty. These definitely aren't the garden variety (pardon the pun) flowers found in grocery floral bouquets.

I could look at (and photograph!) these flowers all day!

Speaking of the garden, we were given zucchini from the bounty of someone else's garden. Alyssa requested zucchini bread and even said she'd help me make it so that's what we did one morning this week. Few things say August in Ohio like a kitchen heating up due to zucchini bread baking:

So good- mixing veggies with sugar is a sure-fire way to improve the taste of veggies...

Speaking of sugar- I had Insomnia Cookies for the first time this week. I was disappointed. The frosting was subpar. How can a bakery strike out in the frosting making department? It isn't that complicated and it's one of the basic functions of the business to make good tasting products. 

Speaking of the basic function of businesses, the Dollar (.25) Store has abdicated even its $1.25ness. I went to our local Dollar Store this week and couldn't believe how cute some of the fall decor was for $1.25.  And then I noticed why... many of the items were $3 and $5. So now, the Dollar Store is really just... a store that sells items cheaply. I guess stores gotta do what they gotta do in this economy. 

Speaking of cheap, I love Aldi's for its much more reasonable prices on just about everything. They sell so many basics for cheaper but they also have fun varieties like these All Dressed potato chips. Savory foods aren't my dietary downfall, typically, and I can stop myself after eating a few chips. I guess I have a reputation for being a bit *territorial* with foods that I like.  Alyssa and I both tried these chips one day and liked them. The bag was in the pantry mostly full when Alyssa was packing a lunch for her and her boyfriend to take to the beach. I told her to pack the chips and she exclaimed, "Really, I can have those chips? You don't mind?" in an astonished voiced. You'd sort of think I'd offered her the family jewels instead of a bag of Aldi chips!!

Speaking of jewels/ precious things, I got to see one of my best friends from college this week. We've not lived close to each other since college and have seen each other just a few times since we graduated. She was about an hour away from Springboro one day this week so I drove to where she was. Depending on where her son decides to go to college (fingers crossed that he'll become a Miami Redhawk!), she may be in our neck of the woods much more often. It was so great to see her and catch up with her.

Of course I looked at throw back pictures both to share with her and for my own nostalgia!

We had such a good time and hopefully we will be seeing each more regularly.
