Monthly Musings July 2023- Summer Fashion

Linking up with Holly and Patty for Monthly Musings which is all about summer fashion.  I don't consider myself a fashionista at all; however, I do wear clothes so I figured I could answer these :).

1. Favorite summer outfit- if I'm at home most of the day or running an errand or two in town, my favorite (/typical) is a pair of khaki shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt. The long sleeves because I'm usually cold in air conditioned buildings. If I'm going to be outside at an event, then I wear one of my cute/ casual shirts and khaki shorts or a skirt.

I just got this long sleeved t from Vineyard Vines and have worn it several times.  VV had a huge sale recently- 50% off sale off already marked down items so I got this shirt and a few other things for reasonable prices. I have two other long sleeve VV shirts (that I was wearing on repeat this summer before I added this one to the mix) and several t- shirts. The quality is good and the shirts are stylish enough that I don't feel shlumpy in them.

I would consider this shirt a cute/ casual shirt that pairs well with khaki shorts.

2. My favorite summer footwear- my Birkenstocks. They are so comfy and they slide on and off. They aren't easy on the eyes but they are pretty commonly worn around here so I fit right in ;).

3. Summer accessories- If I'm going out, I'll wear earrings and a bracelet stack.

4. Summer bag- I don't differentiate between summer and other seasons. I'm using a monogrammed bag from Marley Lilly right now.

5. Summer scents- since I can't smell, I don't put too much stock in what I smell like. (It's kind of a weird psychological thing but it's almost like if I don't smell it, I don't think something smells. Obviously that is not the case but I have to remind myself of that intellectually.)

6. I have maxi dresses and rompers but don't wear them too much.

7. Summer sunglasses- I treated myself to Ray-Bans a few years ago and have been wearing them ever since.

When you and your husband's sunnies match the horse... (also, my ML bag is in the photo. This is my summer... and fall... and spring... and winter bag (🫣) though I occasionally change it up and use another bag)

8. PJ's are usually a comfy t-shirt and lounge pants

9. White after labor day- yes, but generally not in winter. In fall and spring, yes.

10. Favorite summer trend right now- hmm, I don't keep up with all the trends. Are puff sleeves still a trend? If so, I'd say those. Of course my style for that style is subtle. All the puff sleeve shirts that I have are low key puff, just how I'd prefer them!

  1. This was fun to read! I don't consider myself a fashionista either, but I do like to look nice and put together. I love what you said about the puff sleeve- that you like a low key puff. That made me chuckle! I loved all your pics, and haven't seen a lot of them before. I hope you're having a great week!

  7. I am a fan of the long sleeve t-shirt and those are cute. I love that maxi dress! I keep the same bag year round usually and also wear more bracelets in the summer.

    1. Thank you Marilyn! You should check out Vineyard Vines especially when they are running good sales (I'd never buy anything full price from them!).

  8. I love your line of "I wear clothes so..." That's exactly how I felt about this link up. I like the idea of a long sleeve tee with shorts for those cooler days or when I'm going to a place with too much air conditioning.
