Blue Chip Soccer Tournament- CHAMPIONS!!
Alyssa's soccer team participated in the Blue Chip Soccer Tournament in Batavia over the weekend. This weekend was also weekend for the Haunted Classic Tournament in Beavercreek. Alyssa's soccer teams the previous three years had played in (and won all three years) the Haunted Classic Tournament. Alyssa was a little bummed to find out her team was not doing Haunted this year.
Alyssa's team played in the highest division for girls U11. There were only six teams in the top division so three teams were in each bracket. Both of Alyssa's two Saturday games were against opponents within her team's bracket. Her Sunday morning game was her team's crossover game. That meant that if the girls won both their Saturday games, they would make it to the finals on Sunday afternoon.
The girls did win both of their Saturday games meaning the outcome of the Sunday morning game was meaningless; they'd make it to the finals no matter what happened. Her team had made it to the finals of the three other tournaments they'd been in this year. Would this final be different?? Could her team pull off a victory in a final game of a tourney and be champions?? YES, THEY COULD!!
Here's how the weekend went with some details/ pictures:
Saturday morning game- 8:00 AM, in Batavia ~ one hour drive from our house. Needing to be at the field at 7:30 AM for warm ups meant waking up early and leaving the house by 6:30 AM. Yikes! I got up with Alyssa and Donnie but I didn't go to the first game. I helped Donnie get Alyssa ready and then went on a run and then took Jacob and Abby to Clearcreek Park for the FINAL games of the season to ref. Alyssa's team played Dynamo FC, a team out of Indianapolis. Alyssa's team won 3-0.
Donnie and Alyssa decided to not come home in between games which meant that I drove to Batavia for Alyssa's Saturday afternoon game. Alyssa's team won that game easily, 7-0. They played OE's second team.
During the game, I took pictures of all the girls; whenever I do that, it seems like I don't get good ones of Alyssa. Here are the few that I got:
Sunday mornings game: this game didn't start until 9:20 AM, much better than 8:00 AM :).
Alyssa's team played Alliance Cincinnati (formally CSA). Alyssa's team won 4-1. Here are a few pictures (no good action shots of Alyssa :():
The girls celebrate after a teammate's goal
All of Alyssa's teammates stayed in Batavia between the first game Sunday morning and the final game on Sunday afternoon. One of the parents made reservations for everyone on the team to eat lunch at an Applebees so we all went there after the first game on Sunday. All the girls sat together at one long table and the parents sat in booths nearby. Donnie and I sat with Natalie, Allie's mom, and Mary, Madison's mom. We've known Natalie for years as Allie and Alyssa have been on the same CU soccer team since they were five years old. This is the first year that Alyssa and Madison have been on the same team.
Here are a few pictures from the last game and the award ceremony. We played OE and beat them 4-0.
There are no line breaks in between pictures for reasons that are unknown to me. I tried to figure out how to get lines in the pictures (normally it's not a problem) but was unsuccessful.
