It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... in Springboro
We haven't eaten copious amounts of turkey, shoved a shopping rival out of the way for the best deal on Black Friday, or had to dress really warmly during the day this season because of mild weather, but it's Christmas time in the 'Boro. This festival, always held the weekend before Thanksgiving, ushers in the Christmas spirit for the community and is a great excuse to get a heard start on decorating for Christmas. It also gets us excited about Christmas. The fourth graders at Springboro always put on a little Christmas singing performance in one of the tents on Friday evening. So, after Donnie got home from work (my work of putting up Christmas lights had just begun!), we headed into town. Jacob went before us with his friend Blaine. Abby's group didn't perform until 8:00 p.m. so we had time to look around and eat before her performance. The kiddos did a great job singing. Our seats were bad (many had to stand so we were thankful that we had seats) and we couldn't really see Abby who was in the front row. When I did crane my head in an uncomfortable position to get a glimpse of her, she was singing her little heart out. The kids sang some classics, like Go Tell it on the Mountain and Angels We Have Heard on High and some "modern" takes such as We Will Jingle to the tune of We Will Rock You. Too cute! When the performance ended and we left the tent, it was really cold out. The walk home was quite chilly and long and resulted in me promising the girls hot chocolate when we arrived home. We told Jacob to be home by 10:00 (his first little curfew!) since he was with friends and he arrived home a little before 10:00. Merry Christmas in Springboro festival :-)
Eating Bourbon Chicken...
...and a cookie for dessert
...and cards. Alyssa made her card for her teacher. It said, I Love My Teacher. Abby made a Merry Christmas card for Donnie and me.
We ran into Claudia's family while in line for a funnel cake.
YUM!
Abby with her classmates before their performance.
The long, cold walk home was almost over at this point!
