Frankenmuth, MI
On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Katy and I and our girls made the one hour drive to Frankenmuth, Michigan. Donnie, Scott and Jacob stayed in Owosso (the town in which our hotel was located) and went to the Y to work out and then to see the Bond movie in a theatre which was conveniently located next to our hotel.
Frankenmuth is a small, quaint town with lots of Bavarian flavor- from architecture styles, to the food and shops that are in the town, to the beer, etc. It is also home to world's largest Christmas store called Bronner's. Katy and I went once as kids and I have to say that I didn't remember it at all. It is richly decorated, huge, and filled with every kind of Christmas ornament and kitsch that anyone could ever want! The ornaments alone were categorized in a variety of ways- every sport or hobby imaginable had a selection of ornaments to really allow you to customize your Christmas decorating. We had fun looking at everything but the store was really crowded and that took away some of the enjoyment!
A nice passer-by asked us if we would like for her to take a picture of all of us. Another nice passer-by in the store gave me a 15% off coupon. At least there were nice people in the crowds :-)
I'm standing near the soccer section of ornaments. The blue ornament I'm holding said "Coach" on it. I almost got it for Donnie. I would have, except that it was $19.00. It was made in Poland which for some reason contributed to the higher than normal for an ornament cost.

On our way out, the girls spotted these dolls and started playing with them.
