Hodgepodge
1. Are you a naturally trusting person? Is trust built on logic or 'gut instinct'? Does everyone deserve a second chance? Elaborate.
I am a naturally trusting person. I lived with and interacted with honest people (for the most part; no one is sin free with regard to deceit) in my formative years and it had the effect of me being pretty trusting. I think my being trusting is more based on my upbringing- being around honest people. It's what I assume in others. As far as deserving a second chance, it depends on why the second chance is needed. Catch a friend lying to you about something inconsequential, sure give the friend a second chance. But if it's about something not inconsequential then that is a different story.
I know that I would want a second chance after a mea culpa so I think I should extend one in many circumstances. We all sin, make mistakes, do things we shouldn't, etc.
2. 'Beware the Ides of March'...March 15th on the ancient Roman calendar, these words were made famous by William Shakespeare in his play Julius Caesar. Caesar was assassinated on March 15th 44 B.C. Have you read any Shakespeare? If so, do you have a favorite? Have you ever been to Rome?
I've not read much Shakespeare. I don't have a favorite and I've never been to Rome.
3. Do you like a Caesar salad? If given the choice between a garden/house salad or Caesar which do you order? Anchovies or no? What's your favorite salad dressing?
I don't like Caesar salad. Garden salad for sure. Heavens no to anchovies. I like Italian dressing a lot.
4. Where do you typically work (or blog if that's easier) at home? Do you have a dedicated home office space? Are you happy with that space?
I have a spot on the couch where I almost always blog, pay bills, go through paperwork. etc. Donnie and I jokingly refer to it as my "office." Interestingly, we do have an "office" in the house (the room was classified as a formal living room but we added French doors to enclose it and we consider it an office). There's a desk, computer, cabinets, the whole nine office yards. I only sit at the desk in the office when I do our taxes or when I do anything related to my Nikon and pictures I take with my Nikon. The computer in the study has an SD card slot so if I want to look at pictures that I took on my Nikon on a large screen, I use the computer in the study.
5. Snow drops, daffodils, lenten roses, crocus, hyacinth, or early tulips...what's your favorite early Spring flower?
I'm going to say daffodils because we have some pretty ones blooming right now near our front door!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
It looks like today, Tuesday, could be the literal calm before the storm. Tomorrow based on a local meteorologist's predictions, I've absolutely no idea what's going to happen (neither does the meteorologist either apparently due to various weather models). Here's an exert from an article I read on a local news station's website:
"This (referring to Wednesday) is still a forecast that may change a bit... This has been a rather tricky forecast with lots of models showing lots of different possibilities (lots of lots!!)... Early morning, thunderstorms will likely develop. These could be loud(?) with lots of lightning. There could be some large hail, even a few damaging wind gusts. Tornado threat? It wouldn't be impossible to see one, but I think chances would be later in the day."
So anything is possible I guess. But back to Tuesday. High of 73, sunny and lovely. I loved the calm before maybe, possible storms of Wednesday's weather of Tuesday. We ate dinner outside on Tuesday. To be sure, there have been a few other warm days where that was possible but this was the first day we did it. Enjoyed eating our delicious (albeit unhealthy) meal of nachos supreme. We haven't begun grilling yet for the season. Then we will enjoy healthier meals outside :).

Oh goodness that weather forecast is not helpful lol. I hope it doesn't get as bad as they think it might! I do a lot of blogging on the couch too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy- yes for sure about the forecast being not super helpful but also vaguely terrifying!!
DeleteWe went out for a nice long walk around the neighborhood yesterday since it was 70! No meals outside tough as it's still oddly chilly since we can literally feel the cold drifting off the melting snow piles. I hope the storm isn't as bad as some of the models show! We have an actual office space with a desk and I can not remember the last time I used it.
ReplyDeleteI used to use my office space all of the time! Then I "inherited" one of the kids used Chromebooks and I started doing most of my computing on the couch with it. How awesome to have temps hit 70! It got up to 74 here yet it did seem a little chilly at one point outside.
DeleteAt least your forecast is not calling for lots of snow! Geez. Daffodils always mean spring is on the way for sure-love your answers in general! Those nachos are making my mouth water here at 6:50am- ha!
ReplyDeleteWe do have a chance of snow in the forecast- it's not until Monday, thankfully. Thanks, Holly! I the nachos were really good!
DeleteThere is a lot of talk of tornadoes so stay safe! We sometimes say the porch is my office because that's where I mostly live. I love having a laptop and the ability to move around and write/work where I want to. Those nachos look good! Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyce! Yes, I've been seeing that tornadoes are possible along a large swath of the US. I can see why you'd spend a lot of time on your porch :).
DeleteYou just gave me some food for thought about why I would be trusting - my childhood and solid, honest parents. Great epiphany.
ReplyDeleteI have food for thought for you...I just had a friend lie to me about something inconsequential and I would almost rather it have been a lie for a good reason. She told me she was eating lunch alone at Qdoba but really was having lunch at Felipe's Mexican with another person. I saw her in the Felipe's parking lot, and she knew she was caught in a lie and tried to backtrack. So stupid.
Also, I think I am tired because I read that you go to the big desk when you are dealing with anything to do with "Nixon". I thought that might make you laugh!
We have a tornado watch as I type and the wind is howling! EEK!
Your Nixon thought did make me giggle! No, I don't have anything to do with "Nixon" lol. I think it was very rotten of your friend to lie about her lunch plans! I was thinking inconsequential more like lying about a child's event or success. I've caught a couple of friends in maybe what you'd call white lies exaggerating about something regarding their kids.
DeleteRight? Haha - Nixon and Nikon.
DeleteI get it - ugh the parental bragging or the pretending you never have kid struggles.
How great that you have lived and interacted with honest people all of your life. I would love to be a trusting person but past experiences have made me doubt everyone until they have proved themselves.
ReplyDeleteI prefer a comfy spot for when I am on my laptop. I love the idea of an office but I think even if I had one I wouldn't use it.
Eek! The weather is worrying! We are forecast a lot of wind tomorrow which I am dreading because it's bin day and I really don't fancy having to go looking for ours when it has been blown away. Stay safe!
We take our bins out today. And I'm not kidding, it seems like the weather is ALWAYS bad on the days they need to go to the curb. I wouldn't say that I've interacted with honest people my whole life- more like my first interactions were with honest people so I think my nature is to be trusting. I hope your weather is ok tomorrow!
DeleteThe nachos supreme looks so good!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bri! They were!
DeleteI love the daffodils!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dara!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteWe just received 5 inches of snow. I just came in from shoveling.
Praying for all to stay safe in the up and downs of the weather.
Carla
WHAAAAT? That is awful (unless you love snow, lol!).
DeleteNo...and no to the return of less than amazing weather. I just had to skip that last paragraph! I can't imagine that many are still dealing with snow (like my friend in SD who sent me photos of their snow this morning! ugh). But yes to the rest of your Hodge Podge. Well, I do prefer a caesar salad. I think my major distrust of most people comes from my earlier childhood experiences....those years are so impactful, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteAlyssa loves Caesar salad- my husband and I can't figure out why :). So far, our weather today has not been terrible. We've had rain but nothing severe. Snow- I can't imagine though there is a chance of snow in our forecast for Monday so we are not at all in the clear...
DeleteWe are getting a lot of thunderstorms today. I'm not complaining though because it will help all the spring flowers. The nachos look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tanya! They were good. I don't mind rain too much but definitely hoping that we're spared severe thunderstorms. So far, we've just received rain.
DeleteOh, I am craving some nachos now! I hope you are able to stay inside and safe during the storms. There has been a lot of rain here lately. 'Tis springtime is among us!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn! For sure springtime is here! There's high wind today though not as bad as last week. We were spared severe weather, thank goodness...
DeleteVery good point about our formative years experience being an important factor in how willing we are to trust people.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the same here when it comes to salad - no to caesar and definitely no to anchovies!
I'm not that far from you, and we've had similar weather reports and warnings over the past week or so. Gorgeous days in the 70s but also it might snow. Calm with a little drizzle but also we're cancelling the tornado siren test because we might need the tornado sirens for real. (thankfully we didn't!) Spring weather is an adventure!
Hope you're having a great week!
Thanks, Kym! I hope you guys didn't have tornadoes! We definitely had some damaging wind late last week but nothing catastrophic thank goodness.
DeleteYour answers were fun. I'm late getting around to commenting. Our weather has been terrible. So much rain and now flooding. Uggh. I'm looking forward to nicer days
ReplyDeleteWe had a week of torrential rain almost every day. I hope your weather has turned around... Yes, to nicer days!!
