Scenery:
Not sure if a cityscape is considered scenery but I'm using it for the prompt. I will likely write more about it later when I get a chance, but Donnie's firm moved out of Dayton and to the suburbs last week. Everything about the move was not easy in terms of decisions that had to be made about a plethora of issues, but he and the other owners felt certain it was the right move (literally as it were) to make. I went to Donnie's office in Dayton before the move to see it one last time and to take some pictures. Here are some photos from Donnie's office.
You can't see it well here, but the building with the red on the top floor, there's an American flag flying near the top of the building.
The building in the foreground, the glass paneled one, is called the Schuster Center for the Performing Arts. I remember when it was built probably close to twenty years ago. It was a "big deal" for Dayton to get a beautiful, large performing arts center (there are a few much smaller venues in town; Abby performed in a couple of them when she danced :)). The Schuster family donated a boatload of money, ergo the name, for its construction and now it houses Broadway performances. The Dayton Ballet (the oldest ballet corp in the country) and philharmonic call it home as well. The last time I saw a show at the Schuster was when Donnie and I saw Chicago.
I like seeing the American flag flying on this building as well.
The body of water in this pic (near the middle) is called the Great Miami River. "Great" is a bit of an ambitious adjective but that's what someone decided to call it :). There is a smaller river in the area called the Little Miami River. So I guess this one is "great" in size compared to the little?
On top of it:
We stayed in Miami Beach last year for spring break. I associate Miami Beach with a loud, party atmosphere and looked hard to find a place to stay that was NOT known for its party scene #unabashedly/unapologetically fuddyduddy. I apparently found it because the place we stayed in Miami was fairly quiet/calm. Fort Myers Beach, this year for spring break, was hopping with partiers. I would have guessed I was in Miami Beach based on my perceptions of the two places. It likely had something to do with the place we stayed in FMB. The two times we've stayed in FMB before, we stayed at a more high-end resort. Adults in that resort would very likely have cocktails with dinner but getting smashed did not appear to be the goal for most adults most evenings. Where we stayed this year... all bets were off. All I know was that our room was one floor on top of one of the bars in the hotel. YIKES. Can you say loud?
This picture is on our balcony- you can see that our room is on top of a restaurant/bar area of the hotel (the spot with the plank floors and picnic tables). Our room was super loud at night from the music/voices emanating from the restaurant/bar. Thankfully the noise didn't tarry too far into the night... (I would have strongly requested a room change if that had been the case!)
Arched:
Abby requested a mirror for her room years and years ago. I found one for her that's more like a piece of furniture than just a rectangle to hang on or over a doorway. Since the frame is rounded, it arches up as it curves.
(Goodness, if someone had told me when I bought her the mirror that I would one day be taking selfies and posting them on my blog, Id'a said, that's not going to happen, lol.)
Speaking of me (and arches), I couldn't help but notice that in this picture of me, the hair on the top of my head, near my part, is arched up. I don't think it's normally this poofed/arched? Maybe I poofed it for the picture? I was taking photos of me in my new Reds t-shirt to wear to an Opening Day event at our friends' house.
Another arch! This one is in the lobby of Donnie's (now) old office in Dayton. The office space was huge and did have some neat features to it (not worth the commute for anyone but it did have some good features).
Fresh
Not sure our Midwest/land locked/Ohio residing selves possess palates with sufficient maritime knowledge/nuance to know better or not, but supposedly (per restaurants' menus) the seafood Alyssa and I ate in FMB was fresh. Tasted good which really is all that counts :).
Sunday simplicity
I don't have a new picture for this (I try to post pics for this link up that I haven't used in prior posts but sometimes that's not possible). So I'm going to use my dinner pic that I posted just yesterday. Most Sundays when the weather is nice, Donnie grills and we sit outside and eat. We do this other evenings, not just Sundays, but we do it often on Sundays. In the spring and fall there are usually games on the telly that we watch when we eat. When we eat inside, I don't like the TV to be on. But there's something about eating outside that doesn't make me require the TV to be turned off. When we ate outside on Sunday, we were watching a college basketball game.
This was from Sunday a couple of weeks ago.
At home
No words from me, just a few from some bunnies (I'm cracking myself up!)
Spring
Spring has been so nice so far- decent to good weather, some fun activities, seeing lots of green including in the garden, etc. I've planted cool tolerant seeds like romaine lettuce and peas into the ground already.
The daffodils are done blooming but as of now, for color, we have some tulips and crocus flowers blooming.

Always love following along with this post- you always capture great pics! I always associate Miami Beach with loud and parties too. A few of us stayed at the Fountableau a few years back and it was just that. I got my beach fix and sun in the middle of winter though and I was able to sleep despite all the noise so there's that. You are not a fuddy duddy! Ha!
ReplyDeleteThe Fountableau is something! We walked to it when we were in Miami last year. Very pretty but very loud and that was during the day. I can imagine what it was like in the evening. So very cool, though. I'd like to stay there... for one night and then stay somewhere tamer, lol!
DeleteI love your Easter decor. The bunny plates are so cute. I swear I have lost some of my Easter decor. It will turn up after Easter!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! It's so exciting that Donnie got to move out of downtown!
Thanks, Amy! It sounds dramatic but the move is life changing!!
DeleteYou did great interpreting your photo prompts! The arches were cool. Spring Break spot looked pretty (even if it was loud at night). The foods look yummy. I love your new Reds shirt and the outfit! All of your bunny decor is so cute. I love Easter decorations. Enjoy your Easter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather! I love Easter decor, too. As well as Easter candy. Why is it so pretty and good?? Spring break ended up being good. I would not stay in the same hotel if we get to FMB again but it was fine!!
DeleteSo much beauty in simplicity.

Agree! Thanks, Regine!
DeleteI am always amazed by the size of the buildings in America and it is nice to see the flag flying.
ReplyDeleteEek to the loud music and voices from the bar, I am glad it didn't carry on all night.
That looks like a great mirror, I always go into my girls rooms to use one of theirs.
Yum to your food, especially your dinner on Sunday and your Easter decorations are so pretty!
Thanks, Kim! I wonder if only your really big cities have tall buildings? Dayton isn't considered a big city and truly does not have huge skyscrapers but does have some fairly tall buildings. That's cool that you use your daughters' mirrors, too. In our room, I just have my dresser mirror. I don't have a full body mirror so I always go to one of their rooms when I need a full body mirror.
DeleteI love how well you capture these prompts in pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marilyn!
DeleteYou have some really adorable Easter decor. I just did a walk around the yard yesterday to see what/ if anything was blooming and while I have no blooms I am seeing some greenery poking out of the ground. Now I just need a day or two without rain and some decent temps so I can work in the yard.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get good weather soon! We have a lot of hosta plants in beds near our house. It's interesting to see them as small greenery just poking out of the ground right now :).
DeleteI like the prompts: it makes you think about the things around you! I think city scapes work for that first one!

Thanks, Mireille! I like the prompts as well! It's fun to find pictures to fit my interpretation of the prompts :).
DeleteI like how you applied these prompts!
ReplyDeleteLove how you interpreted each of the prompts! I had no idea Dayton Ballet is the oldest corps in the country - I would not have guessed that. Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the Sunday tradition of grilling and eating outside whenever possible. The food looks delicious too. And all the bunnies in your decor are adorable!
Thanks for playing along with Everyday Images and sharing these!
