Weekending

Friday was a good day because I picked Abby up from school! She wanted to come home for the weekend due to wanting to attend a bridal shower on Sunday in Springboro. The day was a dreary one but the drive to her college town was fine. She will likely have a car next year on campus, so I won't have to make the drive many more times. More eras ending!

We didn't do much during the evening. We hung out with Abby and got caught up with her. 

Saturday morning, Abby and Alyssa headed out to Starbucks with books and laptops in tow. They both had a lot of school work to do and decided to do it together at Starbs. I worked on a blog post and Donnie had work work to do. Our plans for later in the day were nebulous. Alyssa wasn't sure if she was going to see her boyfriend based on his schedule and Abby wasn't sure if she was going to see her boyfriend based on his schedule (coincidentally, Abby's boyfriend was home from college as well and his home is not far from ours). Apparently, committing to plans with mom and dad < plans with the boyfriends. (Or even the possibility of plans with the boyfriend!).

Both girls did end up seeing their guys so Donnie and I had time to put together end tables for the guest room that arrived from Wayfair. One of our friends had thought about going to the movies and we said we were game if they decided to go. The didn't so we didn't go to the movies. Another friend invited us over for dinner Sunday evening. 

Lil' end tables/ night stands- the bed takes up most of the wall space so in order to have two tables, they had to be small. I'm not sure about the styling of them- that's TBD. I just put some items on the shelves for now. 

Sunday morning, we went to church, and I was a little smug about how little Daylight Savings impacted me. To wit, if you wake up without an alarm as I do almost every weekend day, then DS doesn't impact you too much. I felt like I had gotten a good amount of sleep Saturday into Sunday even though I woke up early and DS had reared its ugly head overnight. 

After church, I decided to meal prep- had some chicken breasts in the refrigerator that needed to be used so I decided to cook them and then meal prep for Monday's dinner with the chicken. I had plenty of ingredients for what I was making so I asked Abby if she wanted me to make food for her for that evening for dinner. She asked if instead of making a meal for her for that evening if I would mind making a meal for all of her roommates for her night of making meals (four nights a week, they each are in charge of a meal for all of them). That wasn't a problem- I had plenty of ingredient but it did take me longer since I had to prepare more food. Then I decided to make cookies to take to our friends' house and for Abby and her boyfriend to take back to school.

All was going well in the kitchen with my meal prepping/ cookie making until I realized that I had an hour less than I thought I had. The oven clock still displayed the un daylight saving time so every time that I glanced at it to know the time, I thought I had an hour more than I did before we got together with our friends. Things were just going too well!! I had Donnie text our friends saying that we weren't going to get there as early as we'd been invited. I had too much to do.

It all got done... Abby went to the bridal shower, we went to our friends' house, and then Abby's boyfriend took her back to school. It all worked out!

At our friends' house- their all year tree is decorated for Easter. I love it!

We enjoyed a great meal and then played New Phone, Who Dis?. It was a good way to end the weekend.

The cards in the rubber bands are the R rated ones that I won't let us play with 😆. The game is super funny with the G and PG cards!!
