Monthly Musings

Linking up with Holly and Patty for Monthly Musings to talk about spring fashion.

Earlier this week, Marilyn mentioned in a post something about all of her black and gray clothes. That resounded with me because I have SO MANY black and gray winter clothes. Below is a picture of most of my black and/or gray sweaters.

Then I have many more casual gray shirts as well as many hoodies that are gray and black as the background color. Springtime ushers in a nice departure in the black/gray clothing department (though I do own numerous short sleeve black and gray blouses, too, so I never completely abandon my dark wardrobe 😉)

1. A top with florals on it and then a cardigan over that since it is not summer yet! Jeans or capris if the weather is warm enough.

2. Again, I would say anything with florals; skirts; summery shoes.

3. No

4. The weather definitely dictates this one! As soon as it is warm, I start wearing open toe shoes. But by warm, I mean warm on the day that I plan to wear them. So if it’s a spring day and it’s going to get up to 70 degrees, I will wear open toe shoes. But if the next day, the high is going to be 55, then I won’t wear them on that day. Until summer time, open toe shoes are touch and go 🥹

5. I do not have favorite scents specific to a season if we’re talking perfume. With regard to nature, I used to love the smell of freshly mowed grass, especially the first time that I smelled it for the season.  With my sense of smell now being diminished, I can’t smell freshly mowed grass 😭

6. I wear white as a function of weather and the date. So for instance, if we have one of those freakishly warm days in February, I would not wear white. But a warm day in April, you betcha!

This was in early May of last year-

7. I wear my lighter colored long sleeved options on top (yes, I do have some sweaters that aren’t black or gray!).

Here are some of my favorite Vineyard Vine spring time blue tops that I like to wear in the spring on cool days.

Spring break three years ago

8. No, no change to my make-up for spring.

9. I try to lighten up the colors that I wear.

10. I wear my pastel colored earrings. Then even if I am wearing one of my beloved gray or black tops, I feel like I have something spring like in my outfit

  2. That was fun to read! I may have to write a bonus post today for this one. I always love these topics! I have lots of neutrals, in my wardrobe as well: lots of black, taupe, and cream (oatmeal?). I love the VV spring blues and those pastel earrings! I'm with you on the sandals; any day that is warm after February will allow me a chance to wear them!

    1. Thanks, Holly! I love my white jeans- they are easy to style with lots of different blouse and shoe styles. VV has a light blue cashmere sweater on sale right now that I may have to snag...

    1. Thank you! I really like them as well. I got the green pair at an art festival in town and my niece made the pink pair.

  5. I am the same way with whites and open toed shoes; it's all dependent upon the weather and my mood at that time of year.

  6. We are similiar on so many of these! I actually am wearing a black shirt today, so it's ironic I chose this on the same day as this post, ha!
