Weekending- Snow storm

It was Abby's last weekend at home for her long break. She had been home since December 9th so we definitely got used to having her home. She worked at Donnie's office a few days each week, worked on figuring out what she wants to do this summer, read, and spent time with family and friends. I think she had a good break. We were going to get together with friends Saturday evening but decided to spend Saturday evening at home with Abby. I'm not sure if she'll be home before spring break or not. We are quasi empty nesters when Abby is  at school (Alyssa is gone a lot especially on the weekends so when Abby is away at school, it's like we are half way empty nesters...) so there will be plenty of time for friends later.

On Saturday, we ran errands. Our Sam's Club membership expires soon and as of now, we don't plan to renew (we only joined because we got a really good rate). It's $110 dollars and we don't go that often; with us being a house of three most of the time, we certainly don't need to buy in bulk. We appreciate the savings but can live readily without a membership. Anyway, we went and stocked up in case we don't renew (we are hoping after a few months they'll miss us and our $$$ and offer a good deal for a membership).

We watched Disenchanted Saturday evening and it was really entertaining. No bad language or virtual signalling oddness was a pleasant surprise and it was creative to boot with partial animation. Alyssa went to the Newport Aquarium with her boyfriend and had a good time there.

Sunday we woke up to snow! It was predicted that we'd get one to three inches but we ended up with closer to five to six. I decided to try to run outside when I woke up around 7:00 am. We only had about two inches at 7:00 am.  If the driveway seemed slick, I'd run on the treadmill inside.  A few steps onto the driveway and sidewalk indicated no slickness so I ran outside. It was pretty out and I loved being the first one to make tracks in the snow. 

I don't always take my phone with me when I run but I decided to on Sunday in case I were to fall. I have a sports bra that has a pocket in the back where my phone will fit. So I ran with my phone and took it out to take a few pictures. I wanted to capture the snow on me and the snow around me.

Unfortunately, when I tried to put my phone back, I missed the pocket. I thought my phone was tucked away but it was not. It fell down my back so I had to hold my phone and my tissue (because I have a drip and not in the good sense of the word drip but the literal, nasal sense!!) At some point I noticed I had lost my tissue and I was getting tired of holding my phone. At the entrance to one subdivision where I run, there is a small structure. I guess it's decorative (it looks kind of like a gazebo)? It serves no useful purpose that I can tell.  I stopped in there to be able to reach in the back of my sports bra to get my phone in the pocket without snow falling on me. But I missed again! On my way out of the subdivision, I stopped again at the structure and this time got my phone in the pocket. 

Here I am in the structure.  I thought it was weird that there was only snow on the bill of my hat and not the top part.

Storm! Kind of exciting as we don't get winter storms too often. 

The snow picked up and we decided to watch church at home rather than head out. I'm sure we would have been fine but we decided to just watch the service on the live stream from the comfort of our couch. Donnie and I shoveled the driveway after we watched the service.

We didn't cover the convertible overnight so it was snow covered. 

In the afternoon, Alyssa had plans to get together with her best friend to work on a school project but Alyssa did not want to drive (the convertible is rear wheel drive and does not do good in the snow) and her friend's parents didn't want their daughter to drive in the snow so I drove her to her friend's house like it was early 2022 (before A got her driver's license).

Donnie went to our friend's house to watch the Bengals game while Abby and I left in late afternoon to drive Abby back to Oxford. She and I ate dinner in Oxford and then I went home. It was a sad parting but I know the semester will go by quickly.

When I came back home, Donnie was watching the Cowboys game so I watched that with him. That was our weekend- our last couple of days with Abby, snow and football.
