Hello Monday
Linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday:
Friday was a fun evening! We got together with friends to eat dinner and watch a movie. Our friends picked up pizza which we ate at their house and then we watched a movie. The movie was OK- I don't remember the name of it. The guys wanted to see it, that's all that I know... Our friends insisted that we take all of the leftover pizza home with us. That leftover pizza would be our next day's lunch and dinner and lunch on Sunday. (The guys were also in charge of ordering pizza (for the record 🤭). They sort of kind of ordered too much.)
Saturday morning I was up early so I ran, showered and then went straight back to bed and fell back asleep. What am I doing? Turning into a good sleeper?? Into someone who gets enough sleep??
Alyssa was facetiming Abby when I emerged from my second go round of sleep. We all partook in FTing with Abby. On Friday, Abby sent the following picture from a hockey game that she attended.
I asked her how the game was and she said that it was fun and that, "Delaware has a good hockey team." Those are six words that I never thought I'd hear Abby say ;). As far as I know, growing up, she never had an interest in hockey at all, much less knowledge of a team 500 miles from where we live 😆. Ah, but what is college if not the opportunity to be exposed to ideas and events that you heretofore had not been? I remember when I went to college (Indiana University), I had no idea that soccer was a sport played by kids. No schools in the rural area where I grew up had soccer teams nor were there any club soccer teams. As far as I knew, it was a game played by men in European and Latin American countries. So I was surprised to learn, when I went to college and made friends with girls in my dorm, 90% of whom grew up in suburbia, that soccer was such a popular youth sports game. I went to a few IU soccer games with friends and the fascination held fast (not fascination with the game per se but rather that this sport was popular/ well played while I was completely oblivious for eighteen years, lol).
Saturday we just hung around the house and worked on a couple of projects. Neither Donnie nor I drove anywhere. We stayed home the entire day unless we were outside exercising. I ran, like I said earlier and then later in the day, the temperature warmed up to 53 degrees so Donnie and I went on a walk close to dinnertime. It was overcast and the ground was wet from rain we'd had during the week but it was still nice to be out.
Sunday morning we went to church. The message was a good one. Our pastor is battling some health issues but it is encouraging to see that his faith is not faltering, that he is clinging to the promises in the Bible and that he's being blessed by the prayers and cards he's receiving from those who care about him.
After church, we had an errand to run (paying for not going anywhere on Saturday...) and some things to do at home and then we settled in to watch the Bengals game. It was not the ending that we wanted and most of the game was distressing.... but we had to watch it and hope!!

Fun weekend! The pickle pizza sounds yummy- you two are so cute in your hats!
ReplyDeleteI feel like we always end up with waaay too much pizza too; so funny that they send you all home with the leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? It was us and two other couples. Both couples insisted that we take the entire amount of left overs home. There was so much and I didn't want it to go to waste so it's what we ate almost the whole weekend, lol.
DeleteThanks, Holly! I found those hats when I was cleaning/ organizing Jacob's room.
ReplyDeleteOh, we were bummed about the Bengals game as we were cheering for them too! Leftover pizza is always a fun thing to have at our house, it just doesn't happen as much these days as we have finally learned how much to order for just the 4 or 2 of us, but it is harder to gauge the amount for a larger group.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's true. My husband was in charge of ordering the pizza. He thought the guys (especially) would eat a ton because he loves it so much and couldn't imagine anyone not loving it ;)
DeleteWhat a great weekend! I love when our sons and daughters decide to try and to be exposed to new things. It doesn't happen often for mine, but occasionally they'll all to a Grizzlies basketball game together. I love seeing them do things together! I know that made you happy to see Abby do the same, and also, how sweet that Alyssa and Abby were facetiming? I love that!
