Christmas Cards
The card is a tri fold which I like because it's different. The size of it, though, is a little awkward. I probably won't do a tri fold in the future but I'm not sorry that I did it this year.
The second two panels of the back...
Overall I was pleased with the card. A couple of the pictures turned out darker on the card than I was hoping for. But the pictures definitely depict us and our time in Maine and that was the main point!
I think I mentioned this before but I was able to get free address labels from Shutterfly. I could have chosen a stock picture or a custom photo. No choice really, um, obviously the latter!! I was not able to change the color from red to another color. If I would have been able to, I would have changed it to blue ;).
Doing this card in a non traditional color scheme reminded me of another unique card from years ago. I dug through my pile of old Christmas cards to find it.
I loved the citrusy colors of this card (I could not change the color or font of anything- just the text with our name in it was customizable) and thought they went well with beach photos, particularly with the girls and my dresses.
I had forgotten about this one- it's a bit non traditional though it's mostly a shade of green- just not the green green that's usually associated with Christmas. I'm pretty sure I picked it because I thought it looked good with the kids' clothes. Again with the clothes! I guess there has to be a reason to pick a card and looking good with the clothes that people are wearing is just as good a reason as any. These pictures were all taken at Donnie's sister's wedding.
A theme that is consistent throughout all the years that I've done cards is that I choose designs where numerous pictures can be displayed. I'm a picture person, what else can I say?

That's a great card and such cute designs from the past too. This is the first year in 20 years I didn't send out a Christmas card, but I do love receiving them!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marilyn! I have not done a Christmas card every year but most years I have. We have not received nearly as many cards this year as normal. We've either been dropped as recipients or others aren't doing cards as much this year...
DeleteI love your card this year and the ones you shared from years past! I am like you and love the option of multiple real life pictures. We've never been the people to have our pics professionally taken- but I have a ton of real life pics framed and hung. I wish we were Christmas card sending people, but I've never done them. I kind of considered this blog my online version of that when the boys were young! I really loved your message inside the card this year. That's what it's all about! I also love short and informative messages. We receive a very lengthy letter from old neighbors every year ("8 pages front and back"- not really, I'm quoting Ross from Friends about Rachel's letter to him at the beach) and it is hard to read. I am a fan of short and sweet. Thanks for sharing these, my friend! ❤
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer! We receive a very lengthy update letter each year from someone who is really more of a friendly acquaintance than good friend and it's tedious to read about the kids and grandkids but I feel like I should since time was put into writing it!! We've only had professional family pictures done a handful of times. 99.9 % of photos that I have are non professional ones and I am grateful for every one of them.
DeleteLOVE it and love all of your cards- picture cards are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Holly! I remember one time you posted several years of your family Christmas cards (it may have been a Monthly Musings topic?) and they were so fun to see. You've had many great ones.
DeleteDefinitely a lovely card! I tend to be a picture person too; I made some photo calendars this year and had the same problem with having very few photos with the kids in them this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanne! Yeah, it goes from picture overload to picture slim pickins' way too quickly ;). I'll bet your calendars turned out great. I am still thinking of your handmade cards and how creative, cute and Christmas festive they turned out.
