Early Soccer Games and Bad Photos

Alyssa's soccer team had an 8:00 am game at Walll2Wall in  Mason on Saturday. Donnie couldn't take her; he had a board meeting that he couldn't miss in Dayton. Alyssa and I left the house by dawn's very early light and as we made our way south, early light gave way to complete daylight. We outdrove the dark but we didn't outdrive the cold. We also noted that with the parking lot 3/4's full at 7:45 am, W2W schedules games earlier than 8:00 am. That took some of the sting out of having an 8:00 am game :).

Alyssa's team is playing in the top boys' U11 division at W2W. Her team played TFA on Saturday. We found out later that we actually played TFA's top boys U10 team. The boys team that we played was playing up in the U11 division. Because we were playing younger kids, the game didn't end up being super challenging. Alyssa's team won 7-1. The girls played very well together. It would have been much better competitively to have seen them play TFA's top U11 team. Oh well, we can't control who the competition is- only how we play.

After the game, Alyssa and I stopped by the concession stand at W2W. Some M&M's for Alyssa and a Coke Zero for me were perfect, if very unhealthy, snacks.

Jacob had a 9:00 am soccer game on Sunday at Game Time in Fairfield. We know this facility has 7:20 am games so we were not complaining about a 9:00 am game! Jacob's team tied their opponents 7-7. His team was behind most of the game so to end with a tie was definitely not a bad thing. Jacob had a goal and was thisclose to scoring another one. His coach is using the winter indoor games to play everyone in different positions. It will be interesting to see how his team does this spring in outdoor when players will play more of their natural positions.

After the game, we were able to get to McDonald's in time for Jacob to get his favorite breakfast item- it's not available on the all day breakfast menu. We had time to make it to the second service at church if we hustled. But that sounded unappealing and combined with the knowledge that we could watch the sermon, we decided to go that route.

I present some poor quality pictures of the games.  I used my phone to take the pictures. It just wasn't a good idea. Next time I will bring my Nikon and take real pictures or I won't take any pictures at all. There are some situations in which you need to be able to zoom. Soccer action shots require a decent zoom.

Alyssa is visible here, but barely...

The closest shot I was able to get of her

After the game, she and one of her teammates were talking as they walked over to us. Unfortunately, the picture is blurry :(

This one is a little bit better...

... and blurry again

Jacob's game- his team is in black. Jacob's shirt is a CU shirt but not one with a number on it

I took this picture of the score board after we tied the game...
