Alyssa's Frozen Birthday Party
We had Alyssa's 8th Frozen birthday party last weekend. But wait, isn't her birthday in January? All I can say is third child is lucky she got a party at all! The party was delayed for a multitude of reasons; but better late than never is my motto for this one!
Alyssa hadn't had a birthday party with friends at the house since she was two years old and she doesn't remember that. I don't think she was aware that birthday parties are held in homes- her last six and many of her friends' parties were/are held at venues outside of homes. When we had Abby's 11th birthday party at the house in October, Alyssa asked if she could have her party at home. I think she wanted to try something different by having it at home. Also, she stated that when you go to venues to have a party, there are always "people" there who tell you what to do! I think she meant hosts at various facilities. But it cracked me up. She wants autonomy at her party; that's fine. Momma was up for the challenge of having a party at home :-).
I found some great Frozen printables online for decorations and of course found most of the ideas I implemented on Pinterest. I downloaded some of the songs from the Frozen sound track onto my phone about a week before the party. We love listening to the music and having the music was a nice background sound at the party. Alyssa's favorite character from the movie was Olaf so I made him pretty prominent in the party.
Four friends from school came to the party and more from the neighborhood joined us in celebrating (quite belatedly) Alyssa's 8th birthday party!
Party supply stores- online and brick and mortar- were having trouble meeting the demand of Frozen birthday party supplies. On Amazon, I found 16 lunch napkins available for $43.99 (plus $5.00 s &h). Uh, let's see. The kids will be using these to wipe errant cake and cookies crumbs from their faces. I think Dollar Store plain blue napkins will work just fine!
This guy didn't even cost as much as the $45.00 napkins on Amazon; he was well worth the amount I did pay for him!
Cupcake batter- my cupcakes and cakes don't look professional but they taste just as good (or better depending on where the baked goods are purchased) and my kids get to experience the time honored (although slightly dangerous due to possible salmonella :() tradition of licking spoons...
