Lake Erie

We went up to Canada to see my sister and her family last week. Well, I should clarify. When I see "we" I mean, the kids and I. Donnie stayed here to work during the day and get some things done around the house in the evening. I don't know who worked harder, he or I :-).

We arrived in Crystal Beach, Ontario at my sister's house around 4:00 p.m. By 4:30, we were already at the beach. My sister's house is in a housing development that's right on Lake Erie. So, after a five minute walk from her house, there we were. The kids loved the beach and didn't mind the cool lake water. Spending the time at the beach with cousins, Ceci (5) and Sophie (3), made it all the more fun.

The day after we arrived, we went to the town of Niagara, about a half hour away. We were going to see the falls. After eating lunch, we arrived at the parkway where the falls were visible. It started raining pretty hard so we decided not to get out. We took the scenic way home, which is basically along Lake Erie. The rain stopped half way home and we all got out of the car to take a walk along a path along Lake Erie. It was muddy but the kids had fun throwing rocks in the water.

In the late afternoon, we took a short walk from Katy's house to the Crystal Beach playground. It was so pretty there as Lake Erie was visible in the background. The kids enjoyed playing there. Before we heading home, the kids naturally wanted to go down by the water's edge.

If your cousins can't live close to you (darn!) at least it's good that they live at a cool location!
