Middle-

I´m going with middle child and that is Abby. We´ve talked about the ¨middle child¨ classic stereotype of the middle child getting lost in the shuffle- not being the oldest or the youngest, not getting as much attention, etc. Abby says she never felt middle child neglect by not being the youngest or the oldest. When she was younger she had interests and abilities that resulted in accolades for her that I´m almost certain helped to make her feel special and not left out. She got along well with Jacob from the moment she was old enough to interact with him and was Alyssa´s ¨little mommy¨ when Alyssa was younger and then her best friend when they were older. Siblings were/are very positive for her and not a source of feeling negative about being the middle child. Again, that´s based both on my perception and what Abby herself has said :).

She´s also the consummate daddy´s girl-

Growing up, my sister Katy was smack dab in the middle of us five kids. She did not experience middle child syndrome at all, either. She was by far the most outgoing of us, the most popular at school, talented musically with a beautiful singing voice and she graduated the highest of any of us in our respective graduating classes (she was third in her class (albeit our school was small!)). So yeah, she received lots of attention in good ways and was not held back by her middle child placement in the family :).

At work

All the classrooms in the school district that I sub in have large screens called Smartboards. They are really technologically cool- teachers can display their laptop screens onto the Smartboard. There is also a whiteboard feature with a pen that you use to write on the whiteboard. Subs aren´t trained on Smartboard usage- but you don´t exactly have to be technologically savvy and/or trained to pick up the basics like whiteboard usage. When using the whiteboard feature, you select a color from the color option list that will determine what color your writing on the Smartboard is. 

Get this: I thought that the only color options were the ones listed here: black, red, blue, green, purple, orange or yellow. 

This past week at school, I noticed the white button (on the bottom and right) and I thought, why would I write in white on a whiteboard? Curious about it, I clicked on it.

TA DA: Who knew that selecting the white button resulted in the color wheel thing whereby EVERY COLOR WAS AN OPTION????

Look at that pretty, ¨custom¨ lol color. To think that ALL THESE years, any time that I used the Smartboard whiteboard, I was only using the colors listed above- black, red, blue, green, purple, orange or yellow. I had no idea that every color was at my disposal 😆

This changed everything!! I always write my name on the whiteboard and usually then a little generic smiley face to indicate bonhomie to the students- that, yes, I am generally speaking a pleasant person who will act friendly and upbeat about the school day and prospect of being the students´ teacher for the day. The day that I realized I had every color at my disposal for Smartboard drawing purposes, I decided to draw a more realistic face of me. It was a bit of a fail and I went back to my generic smiley face :).

Does my self portrait in personalized pixalated color make me look fat?? LOL. Yes, I think so. My face looks really wide.

I reverted to my generic smiley face. Well, there you have it. A little fun with the Smartboard. There´s got to be some advantages to getting to the school super early, right??

Shadow-

Whenever I bake bread the dough of which needs to rise, if it´s a sunny day, I move the bowl to a place where the sun shines through the window. Moving the stool to a place where the sunlight hit it created some shadows. 

Weathered-

This planter is weathered and has definitely seen better days. Fortunately for it, its value lies in its utility not its appearance :).

Pink

You know when you buy an article of clothes and you wonder if you´re actually going to wear it much or if it will mostly hang in your closet? I had such a thought about this pink button down shirt that I bought recently on a whim. Turns out, I don´t know what I did without it! It´s been great to layer under sweaters and when it´s warmer, I anticipate wearing it as a single layer. So glad that I bought it!

I´m glad it was marked down. Goodness, I never would have paid $70 for it!!

I´ve enjoyed wearing these pink conversation hearts during the Valentine´s season. Time to put them away until next year...

Current Project

I´m not working on any major projects. The closest thing to a project is beginning to write in a gardening binder with ideas/plans for the garden.

Sweet

My $20 double doozie was good! The youth group at church had the most adorable baking sale set up in the lobby of church. Everything looked so festive and good. They didn´t list a charge for anything- rather, buyers could donate what they wanted to for items. I think that was smart. They probably made more money by relying more on generosity than a set amount. I saw this double doozie that I wanted. Donnie only had a twenty dollar bill so that´s what he donated :). It looked better before it got smooshed in my purse. It still tasted good!!
