Quince & Louisville fashion finds

I wanted to do a short and sweet review of my first Quince clothing order. Quince is a clothing company that touts its much lower prices on quality clothing pieces. It offers clothes made from silk, cashmere, linen (as well as common fabrics like cotton) at much lower prices than you'd find in most stores, whether brick and mortar or online. For example, their cashmere sweaters cost anywhere from $50-60 dollars. I just received a Garnet Hill catalog in the mail and their cashmere sweaters range from $189 to $229 (though I am swooning over the color and style selection from GH, I won't be purchasing any of the sweaters at those prices!)

I was on the hunt for some linen clothes for the summer. I really wanted a pair of linen pants. I purchased some from Quince as well as a linen dress. 

The pants: I ordered this pair and thought it was a good deal for $39.90. Speaking of a good deal, I looked at Nordstrom's site because I know they have a good and easy return policy (I should add that I had no intention of doing in person shopping for the pants which is why I was interested in ordering from places with good return policies) and found numerous... not good deals such as linen pants for upwards of $500!! To be fair to Nordstrom, they do offer numerous styles of linen pants for much cheaper than $500. But they have many, many for $500 and higher. That's going to be a NO!!

A couple of things that I didn't like about ordering the pants from the site were the size options. The size offerings were XS, S, M, L and XL. I'd prefer the traditional 0- 14 size options because they're more specific. The other size option that I didn't care for was the inseam options were only in even sizes. What if your normal inseam size number is odd? Like, say, a 27? And you have to choose between a 26 and 28?

I ended up ordering two pairs with two different inseams- size 26 and 28. The 26 looked way too short on me. Abby was home when my order came in. She tried on the 26 (she's about an inch shorter than I am) that I got in an extra small and liked them so I told her she could have them. The 28 fit me in length but I had ordered that pair in a small and they were a little too loose/baggy.  So I returned the 28 small back to Quince  and exchanged it for a 28 XS.  The return, well exchange, was easy- I didn't have to pay for return shipping. But of course I had to wait for Quince to receive the pants that I sent back before they send the one I was exchanging them for. 

I also wanted a linen dress. Quince had one for $59.90 so I ordered one when I placed the linen pants order. As for the dress, I was debating between an extra small and small. I decided to order the small due to not wanting to risk the dress being too short (since it was an above the knee style). When the dress arrived and I tried it on, I loved the length of it. I wouldn't have wanted it any shorter. However... there was a lot of extra room in the midsection of the dress. The XS probably would have fit me better width wise... 

Here are some pics of me with my Quince clothes. This was in Louisville and we're squatting (which looks a bit awkward...) because when we stood up straight, you couldn't see the horse behind us. Anyway, the pants I am wearing are from Quince.

 I was a taking a picture of the top to send it to Abby to see if she liked it (the top) in which case I would get it for her. 

Here is the dress. I posted these already since I wore the dress on Easter.

You can see that the dress is a good length but I would not want it any shorter. Donnie's hand on my waist sort of draws the material to me and you can't see how big it is in the middle.

I really like how the dress felt- it felt like I was wearing nothing due to how light it was (it also may have felt like nothing since really, the only places it was touching my skin were my shoulders!). Quince has a navy blue color in the same style that I really like. However, I probably won't get it. I'm afraid the XS will be too short in length. The small just has too much excess room.

My overall Quince thoughts:

Pros- good prices and a good return policy 

Cons- limited sizes- not everyone's natural inseam is an odd number! 

Louisville shopping...

Saturday morning, we went to this shopping space with lots of vendors. It was sort of like a flea market except that everything was new... The whole place had a lot of cute items and had lots of variety from household items to gifts to clothes. I bought some gifts for others and found a few things for me:

I liked this shirt and skirt combo. I thought the two pieces were unique and I liked the smock top quite a bit. The prices weren't bad at all. 

I loved the color of this top and so it was an easy yes

Here I am at dinner Saturday evening wearing my new blouse and skirt. I had brought another dress but I wanted to wear my new items :).

On Sunday, we went to a consignment/used store and I found the best deals. There were a few racks of clothes with a sign at the top that said the clothes were 90% off the tagged price!! They were practically free.... Also it was weird that the clothing type were all summery. I could have seen clearancing winter clothes since that season has ended. But clearancing summer clothes in the spring seemed odd. It worked out nicely for me.

Every item in this stack was less than $2 even with tax after the 90% off.

I don't wear skirts often; it's nice to not pay much for something I don't wear often.

I do wear tops often; it's nice to get some for very cheap to have more of a variety and to pay practically nothing for some new (to me) ones.

I enjoyed picking up some fun items in Louisville. I don't go out of my way to shop in stores for clothes- I don't mind going shopping if the girls want to shop or if my sister does when I see her. On my own, though, in store shopping is not something I enjoy or do often. It was a fun activity to do with the bloggers and I'm glad I picked up some items that I know I will wear.
