Thanksgiving
We have much to be thankful for even in a season of loss. I was very grateful to celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and to have my sister in the kitchen with me to help prepare items. I'm not sure that all we made constituted a "feast" because we didn't have huge varieties of food. But, we did have plenty to eat. I do believe our dessert selection/ quantities constituted a feast. We had two pumpkins pies, two sugar cream pies and two chocolate chip pecan pies. Also for our sugar grazing purposes were boxed chocolates.
I made a turkey and stuffing with sausage in it. Prior to this Thanksgiving, I'd never had sausage stuffing in a turkey before. Years ago, Katy told me that her mother in law made turkeys with sausage stuffing. I forget many things so easily yet for some reason, I can clearly remember Katy talking about the sausage stuffing her MIL made. I decided that for my first Thanksgiving turkey (I always host Christmas and roast a turkey), I would make sausage stuffing. It did not disappoint!!
Katy made the other sides that we had and I was super grateful that she did that. The meal went without a hitch except that I didn't have the oven on the correct temperature for the turkey so it took forevvvver to complete cook. Oh well, it did finish cooking eventually. Bonus about the turkey taking so long to cook- by the time we finished eating it was late afternoon. I didn't have to worry about fixing another meal for our guests :). It's the little things, right? We did snack later in the evening and I had an assortment of snacks out prior to the big meal so I don't think anyone spent any portion of the day hungry. At least that's what I'm telling myself to assuage my hostessing guilt...

Definitely an iPhone picture- the turkey doesn't look too fantastic here but it tasted good. Also the stuffing doesn't look like it was anything special but it was :)
This kid's plate cracked me up. I think it was Alyssa's. The adults ate at the dining room table on china while the kids sat at the kitchen table and used paper products. Anyway, what cracked me up about it was how little food there was on the plate. Like I said, no one was too hungry when we finally served the meal.
