Soccer stats and such...
It's not quite fall yet but it's finally beginning to feel like it. Cooler temperatures at night, not painfully hot days, Friday night high school football games, and around here, lots of soccer.
On Saturday, Jacob's soccer team had an early soccer game in Bellbrook. They tied the Bellbrook team 1-1. Jakey scored our team's goal! He left footed it in after a couple of boys got the ball down the field. I wasn't there to see it :-(. I couldn't justify getting the girls up early to go to the game.
Right after the game, Donnie drove Jacob back to Springboro to ref two soccer games at Clearcreek Park (they did stop at a McDonald's after the game to get some breakfast food- the only kind of food Jacob likes at McD's). Donnie dropped Jacob off instead of staying like he did the previous week when it was Jacob's first week reffing. With about half of Jacob's second game remaining to ref, we all headed to Clearcreek Park. Straight from the park, we were headed north to Donnie's work picnic. Jacob was not crazy about being gone from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm but that's what the day entailed for him! He made $24.00 reffing and then I won $25.00 at bingo at the picnic which I gave to Jacob for being such a *fairly* good sport about the day. Jacob did a great job reffing. His two games were both three year old games. Wow, those kids were small but amazingly most of them seemed to get it and several of them were pretty darn good. It was fun to watch the lil' uns play but I was mostly watching Jacob and feeling so proud of having such a responsible boy!!
On Sunday morning (no church again, ugh), we headed to Blue Ash for Alyssa's soccer game. Her team was playing Impact's top team. We played this team three times last year- one regular season game and two tournament games. They beat us twice and we tied them once. They were the better team. This year, with three different players on our team and a great coach, we are the better team! We beat them 5-1. It was 1-1 at the half. Alyssa played almost the whole first half as a defender. I thought she played really well. Donnie disagreed. He said she was too hesitate about going after the ball. She started the second half in goal and played almost the entire second half in goal. She did really well. She made a few great saves and didn't get scored on. Alyssa's team is off to a 2-0 start. Staying in division 1 is looking more and more like a reality...Next week we face the team who easily beat every team last fall and spring. I can't wait to see the game.
