Magic Kingdom
On Friday, we went to Magic Kingdom. Kristen wanted to get to the entrance by 8:20 to get in line and be able to get into the park right away. It was a good call on her part, although we didn't make it there until about 8:30. Still. We saw the opening "ceremony" for lack of a better word, which I'd never seen before, despite this being my third visit to Magic Kingdom.
We headed to Frontierland where we rode Splash Mountain twice in a row before riding Thunder Railroad. We then took the Walt Disney World Railroad to Tomorrowland. We rode Space Mountain (Abby didn't like it!), Tomorrowland Speedway, Transit Authority PeopleMover and finally, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin ride. We ate lunch at the Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe and missed a downpour of rain by about 15 seconds! (it rained at some point every day we were in Florida).
After lunch, we went to Fantasyland. We rode The Barnstormer and did the Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid. The latter's line was so long and we only rode it because we did not see the sign stating that the wait was an hour! We never would have ridden it :-). It was great mainly because our legs were so tired from standing in the line. If instead of depicting the story of the Little Mermaid, it had depicted nothing and only had us riding in the clam shell shaped car seeing nothing, it would have been a relief! Waiting that long in line kind of took the wind out of our sails. Abby said she wanted to head out of the park around 4:00. From a pure, "I can't believe how much money this ticket costs and my daughter wants to leave six hours before closing" stance, I would have said "no, we're staying." But, we were at the park for her and if she wanted to leave, I wasn't going to stop her! Kristen was fine with leaving, too, so we left. Before we did, we were able to see a parade of characters near Main Street.
All in all, our trip to the parks was good. I wouldn't consider myself a huge Disney fan by any means but I think there are some amazing sites to see and activities to do. I still prefer an ocean side vacation to the hustle and bustle of a themed park one, but we came for the dance competition and couldnt' resist going to the Disney parks. I'm glad we did go to the parks. Good times, good times.
The girls in our hotel room before we left.
Moms and dolls (not pictured) also had matching, personalized shirts.
Waiting for the memory making to begin!
Outside the Thunder Railroad ride
Revealing my bad knowledge of Disney movies, I don't know the dude's name. The girl's name is Jesse, that much I know.
French braids... The Disney photographer suggested this pose
Cooling down!
Abby didn't want to ride the iconic Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride (she was afraid it would hurt her stomach) but suggested I take her picture at this spot!
Waiting in the Little Mermaid line. I do have to say that if you find yourself stuck in a line for an hour at Disney, at least the line waiting area is filled with eye catching scenery
The long line wasn't worth it, my fake animated Little Mermaid!
The back of the castle
A parade
Abby in the Hall of Presidents. She's standing under Reagan's photo- I took it for Donnie. When we were in Disney as a family, the only time Donnie requested a photo being taken of him, was in this spot.
