Animal Kingdom
On July 4th, Abby and Giovanna danced their solo routines. After great accomplishments in that endeavor :-), we set out for Animal Kingdom. We arrived at the park around 12:00. That gave us time to check out some attractions before heading over to a character meal at the Tusker House. We enjoyed walking around the large park and taking in the sites of various animals and birds.
The park was hot and crowded! We were thankful for having a cool spot reserved for us for lunch. Kristen had made reservations to have a character meal at the Tusker House. I was a little bit worried that I would regret the character meal because I knew it would be more expensive than counter service quick meals and I didn't know if Abby would appreciate the fact that she would meet characters. Fortunately, she did enjoy the meal (buffet, yum, loved the couscous and desserts but HATED paying for two "adult" meals. Yes, Abby is considered an adult at age 10 for both increased park ticket prices and meals. The child eats so little. The whole age 10 being an adult offends me on many levels but I digress)and meeting some characters.
After lunch we went on the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride. This was a fun adventure! We were able to see all sorts of exotic animals on this safari-esqu ride. We stopped at DinoLand USA for some good old fashioned play time and the Boneyard where the girls dug for bones. They loved these two areas a lot.

We asked a couple of workers what they were working on; they were weaving something. They said they were making fish out of a type of vine and gave the girls two of the fish.
Outside the Tusker House where we had lunch, we were able to see some characters.

Apparently, Goofy does a parade around the restaurant. Children can follow him. I wasn't sure that Abby would go for it. She actually got into it and seemed to enjoy it.

As soon as we arrived at the park, we got Fast Passes for Expedition Everest, the largest "thrill ride" at Animal Kingdom. I had gone on it before and liked it. It was Abby's first time. She said it was "ok".
