Nexstar Dance Competition
We had another busy weekend... this weekend was Jacob's basketball tournament. They lost the first game on Saturday, won the second one on Saturday and closely lost the third game on Sunday so they're done. Jacob also had an indoor soccer game on Sunday. I did not get to attend any of his activities because Abby's dance took up most of Saturday and Sunday for me. On Saturday, the dancers had a studio rehearsal where the routines were performed twice. This took over four hours. On Sunday, Abby had her first dance competition (Nexstar at West Carrollton HS); it was one where only the girls who were doing solos performed their solos. Abby did great. She received a score of Platinum (the highest possible), she won her category in her age group (jazz) and came in 4th overall for all the 9- 11 year olds.
Abby's solo is called Barbie Girl. She starts off in a Barbie box and is Barbie to the tune of Barbie Girl. Then the music changes and it's Girls Just Want to Have Fun (the Miley Cyrus version which is must faster than the Cindi Lauper version). It's cute, fast and fun.
Hanna, Abby, Ally and Julia pose
Abby and Lyss.
Giovanna and Abby
Stretchin'
She's in the Barbie box (beginning of the performance)
Back in the box (at the very end)
Her hair is partially covering it, but the Barbie jacket shows the iconic Barbie head on the back.
Getting her 4th place award...
Abby smiles with her 1st place category trophy and 4th place overall plaque.
Way to go Abby!!
