Last Day of School
It finally arrived! After complaining for 180 days (more than that when you consider all the bellyaching they did on non school days as well as schools), the moment of freedom arrived. The last day of school occurred.
Abby was still tired and in a foul mood when she was eating breakfast. I asked her why she wasn't acting more excited about the BIG DAY. She was already lamenting the shortness of summer break. "Three months isn't enough time!" she complained. I didn't have the heart to inform her summer break is less than three months.
I made "doughnut brownies" as a special after school snack for the kids. Doughnut brownies are regular brownies (from a box, not homemade) and then frosted with homemade chocolate frosting. The frosting reminds them of the frosting on chocolate iced doughnuts so they made up that name for them.
Abby had her dance dress rehearsal that started at 5:00, so there was no time to celebrate during the afternoon/ evening.
Abby departs the bus in the afternoon.
Jacob's turn...
Abby and Giovanna
Welcome Summer Break! I'm praying for fun and safe lazy summer days infused with a dash of boredom here or there to make the prospect of returning to school and seeing their friends not quite so bad :-).
