Holes in her Head
Abby had her ears pierced last Monday evening. She had never really expressed an interest in getting them pierced before Monday. When I would occasionally mention it, she would say, "I don't want my ears pierced. It will hurt!" I did little to persuade her either way. On Monday, for reasons that aren't 100% clear, she decided that she wanted them pierced and wanted them done in a timely fashion. When I said something about maybe for her birthday, she indicated she did not want to wait that long. My firm belief that kids should not be spoiled was eroded by the sight of my girl with the gap toothed grin and big brown eyes that kept asking me throughout the day if she could get her ears pierced. Working to her advantage was the fact that Jacob was not home that evening. He was at a Reds game with his grandpa. This helped Abby's cause in two ways: 1- As Abby pointed out, his absence meant we wouldn't have to deal with his not wanting to go to the mall and 2- Jacob was getting to do something fun that evening. So, we (the girls and Donnie) headed to the mall to get some holes in Abby's head.

Pierced!

Alyssa rocks the Victoria Beckham look of a tiny body with huge sunglasses (except VB wouldn't be smiling!)

How could I say no to a little girl who earlier in the day made hula skirts for her sister and her, complete with matching hair pieces AND choreographed Hawaiian dance moves. Really, how could I say no to her??
