Loving- Christmas presents that I received and seeing others enjoy/ like the gifts that I gave them. I plan to do a post on some of these tomorrow. I’m also *kind of* loving the cold weather. Not the literal cold for the most part but the concept of it when I’m snug as a bug inside. But I don’t mind being out in the cold so long as I’m dressed appropriately for it and moving.
Friends whose house we celebrated New Years Eve at gave us this Taco Tuesday lazy susan bar.
So of course, yesterday (Tuesday), was Taco Tuesday. I was gone most of the afternoon but before I left the house, I put some chicken in the crock pot along with some taco seasoning and salsa. A few hours later, I came home and shredded the chicken. That constituted the protein part of TT and then I added some fixin’s to the bar. I snapped this picture to send to my friend to thank her again for the gift.
Looking forward to- a trip that I have upcoming with Alyssa. I will miss my travel buddy when she leaves home (I’m assuming she’ll want to go on spring break trips with her friends when she goes to college).
Resolving- to not eat sugar and pop for the next several weeks. Two days in and it’s going good. 🤭 Of course the first few days are always the easiest because it’s new (also because I am sugared out after eating SO MUCH of it over the holidays. I will want to have sugar well before my designated time ends, I’m sure). Giving up pop is also a huge deal (I normally drink more than one diet pop in a day) and I have missed that!
Doing to stay cozy this month- It has not been a cozy month at all (granted it has been all of two days..). Hopefully once the house gets back in order (we still have some decorations up), I’ll be able to relax. I did sit down for a minute literally in front of the fireplace after running an errand coming inside and feeling freezing.
I snapped this picture yesterday- I’m sitting on the tile that is in front of the fireplace (while it was on). It is the best way to get warm fast in the house!! I’m drinking a diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A- not sugary or pop but more fun than water...
Cooking- I’m planning on making crock pot lasagna soup tonight for dinner. I made a real lasagna just before Christmas that everyone loved (all five of us were home). The soup will be easier and hopefully close to tasty as the hearty dish in its solid state!

Awww can't wait to read about your trip with Alyssa- such bittersweet words you wrote and so strong too! You just get the whole motherhood thing obviously :) Also your crockpot lasagna soup sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Holly! I am really looking forward to the trip. Just read your post about the upcoming dance competitions- I am soooo excited for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteCrockpot lasagna soup sounds AMAZING! My month has been nothing BUT cozy so far. 🤣 Happy 2024 to ME! I'm going back to work today, so it's about to end. I'm excited to go back to work, though! I love that TT lazy Susan! What a thoughtful gift. I am with you on those, and I also love practical gifts. My son Drew's girlfriend gave me some reusable beeswax wrap (to replace Saran Wrap) and a candle. I used the wax for the first time last night and love it already! I sent her a picture and a thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I hope the soup will be good? It should be, based on the ingredients, lol. Those were thought gifts that Drew´s girlfriend gave you. I have two of the reusable beeswax wraps and love them! I definitely use (and reuse!) them a lot. I´m not surprised that you love yours. Thanks for the link up!
DeleteI really need to try crockpot lasagna soup! My family would probably love it. I love the Taco Lazy Susan! What a fun component to add to family dinners.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Megan! I will share the recipe if we all like it. I think we will but my husband is dubious!! I hope to prove his fears wrong ;).
DeleteHappy New Year, Maria! I love the Taco Tuesday bar and I know what you mean about being sugared out. I don't think I could face another cookie or piece of chocolate which is a good thing right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pamela! Glad that I am not the only one!! Happy New Year!
DeleteThat slow cooker chicken is one of my favorites and the lasagna soup sounds good. I told Jennifer today we all need to have a slow cooker recipe exchange! I am a fan of diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A. I haven't cut back like I should on the sugar, but am trying to at least make my meals healthier. Now to tackle healthy snacks!
ReplyDeleteA recipe exchange is a great idea! The diet lemonade from CFA is really good... My clothes are not fitting as they should be so I had to take some extreme measures!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I WANT that Taco Lazy Susan. That is so cool!!! And I should really give up my daily Coke. That might have to be a challenge for next week though, when I'm back at work. I too feel so sugared up right now.
ReplyDeleteIt´s good to know that I´m not the only one about the sugar... A Coke sounds really good right about now... we´ll see how long I last, lol!
DeleteThat soup sounds delicious! I love that cute taco lazy susan too. How cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne! The soup turned out ok- real lasagna is definitely better tasting though the soup was easier!!
DeleteLasagna soup (and in the crock pot)...totally adding that to my list of soups to be enjoyed this month!! Here's to things getting cozy soon!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I made the soup last night. It was pretty good but I definitely prefer lasagna made the more time intensive way. Nonetheless, making the soup was a snap and I could see myself making it again.
