Summer Break Week 2
Last week was week number 2 of summer break. It may be a little early to say that summer is flying by but it seems like it is :(. Last week was really strange and here's why: Abby was gone all week!! She went on vacation with her friend Hanna. Hanna's family went to Panama City Beach, Florida and invited Abby along. Their week went smoothly and Abby had fun but I know that Abby was happy to return home. We were happy to see her. By Thursday of last week, it just seemed wrong that she wasn't home with us.
Here's how the week went with two of the Rineer kids:
Monday- last week began soccer conditioning so Jacob's week began bright and early. He had to get up at 6:20 am for Fast Twitch. Alyssa proclaimed pretty early on in the day that she was bored. Not having your sister home will do that to you :(. We asked James to go to the pool with us which thankfully, he was able to do. The two of them had fun at the pool. Jacob and his friend Casey were at the pool when were there, too. We had pizza that evening. We had no practices, games or try outs and it just seemed strange (but good!).
Here are some pictures of James and Alyssa at the pool on Monday. They spent time in the pool but it was much easier to get pictures when they were outside of the pool playing with the squirter things
Tuesday- Jacob had open field for soccer starting at 10:00 am and Alyssa had a training session at Prodigy at 10:00 am. It worked out well to drop Jacob off around 9:50 and then head to Prodigy. I love how everything in our town is close by. If the addresses of two locations are both "Springboro," chances are that no more than a ten minute drive separates the places. No one wanted to run errands with me in the afternoon- both kids having been "busy" in the morning. We had nothing on the agenda for the evening again and the prospect of another evening at home was strange. Then Alyssa was invited to guest play for a U11 CU girls team that was playing its last league game. The game had been rescheduled and several girls on the team couldn't make it, so the coach needed guest players. Alyssa and another girl on her team were invited to guest play. Our evening suddenly wasn't free; we ended up being gone three hours due to the game being close to an hour away.
No pictures from Tuesday. I thought about taking pictures at the soccer game that she guessed played for but I ultimately decided to not take pictures.
Wednesday- Jacob had Fast Twitch in the morning. He slept most of the rest of the morning when he arrived home. The three of us (Jacob, Alyssa and I) went out for lunch at Chick -fil- A in the afternoon and then went to the mall where I needed to return some items. Jacob convinced me that he "needed" some new athletic shorts and Alyssa was likewise able to convince me of her need of summer clothes. I hadn't bought any new clothes for any of the kids in quite a while so I was easy to persuade I guess :). Casey came over after we arrived home and Alyssa played with the neighbor kids.
Large Diet Dr. Pepper...
to compliment the spicy chicken sandwich
I forgot that Alyssa and I picked the ONE strawberry that has grown on our two plants. It was a $7.00 strawberry :). Alyssa enjoyed eating it...
Thursday- Alyssa and I went to Prodigy in the morning while Jacob was soccer conditioning. I bought the kids donuts after making Alyssa a pinky promise the week before that I would take her this week. Jacob spent part of the day at Casey's house while Alyssa again played with neighbor kids.
Donuts- they'd each eaten one by the time I thought to take a picture...
My work out at Prodigy...
Friday- Alyssa and I along with our neighbors and friends Cory and James went to Kings Island on Friday. The forecast called for a chance of rain for Friday. Oh, it rained all right- for the exact amount of time we were at Kings Island. We made a mistake in not putting ponchos on right away. Those would have kept our clothes dry and would have kept us from FREEZING after a few hours. Before our body temperatures dropped low and we started shaking from the cold, we did get to ride all the big rides with minimal to no wait times at all. One advantage of BAD weather (Ok, the only advantage). We ran to our car after we threw the towel in for the day and proceeded to crank up the heat to 84 degrees in my car (the highest it will go) and go through a drive thru for lunch so we could continue to remain in the heated car.

LATE Friday evening, around 11:35, Abby arrived home. Seeing her face was the perfect way to end our second week of summer break.
