First day of school
The kids started school on Monday. They are in three different schools this year. Alyssa is in 3rd grade at Dennis Elementary, Abby is in 6th grade at Springboro Intermediate, and Jacob is in 8th grade at the Jr. High. The kids were not looking forward to the first day of school. Jacob and Abby ride the same bus this year. They leave the house at 6:45 to catch the bus. I don't need to wake Alyssa up until about an hour later. Her bus comes at 8:20. The only good thing about starting so early for the big kids is that they get home sooner than the elementary age kids. Jacob and Abby arrive home at about 2:50. Alyssa doesn't arrive home until close to 4:00.
Even before the school year started, we were off to a bumpy start. Jacob's locker wouldn't open when we went to the Jr. High on the Wednesday before school started. The janitor had to open his locker with a key on the first day of the school. On the second day of school, Jacob was given a new locker. This one does seem to open. We received Abby's schedule last Wednesday when we went to check out her school. Then on Saturday, we received an email from her school stating that all of the kids' schedules would change the first week of school. So, she's been in her homeroom for the last two days doing nothing really. She's anxious to know her schedule. Alyssa's teacher put Alyssa on the wrong, which was actually the right, bus. Subsequent to sending out letters stating which bus the kids were going to ride, many changes were made about the buses and parents weren't informed of the changes. Alyssa's teacher had the new information so she placed Alyssa on the correct bus but I was at the wrong bus stop waiting for a different bus, based on the information that I had. Ah, school. If I had a better math and science brain, I'd home school them. Since I don't, off to their institutions they go!

I found this note to Alyssa from Abby in Alyssa's back pack. Alyssa is using Abby's old back pack.
Alyssa- She's wearing a hand me down of Abby's. Actually, I'm pretty sure Abby wore this to school on her first day of third grade. I love how Alyssa is not a diva. Hand me downs work just fine for her!
