Weekend Update
We had a mostly good, partly bad, but definitely busy weekend.
This past weekend was the annual Christmas in Springboro festival. We look forward to this small town festival every year. It truly ushers in the beginning of the Christmas season (even though it's the weekend before Thanksgiving) and always puts me in the mood to belt out my favorite Christmas tunes. I created a Christmas play list on my phone that has 83 songs on and I have more to add to it!
Jacob walked to downtown Springboro with friends on Friday evening. Donnie and the girls and I drove to a nearby church and walked the rest of the way. We ate junk food (except Donnie!), bought festival crafts, chatted with familiar faces, and then headed home. The girls helped me decorate my foyer Christmas tree.
Saturday morning around 10:30, I took Jacob to the Jr. High so he could watch the other 7th grade basketball team scrimmage. He said that after that, many of his friends were walking from the game to downtown for the festival. We gave him money, told him good bye and didn't see him until 7:30 when I picked him and two friends up from the K (they were freezing cold, having been outside almost all of the day) and took them to our house. His two friends spent the night. One of Jacob's BEST DAYS EVER!!
After dropping Jacob off Saturday morning, Abby and I headed to the Kenwood Mall so that Abby could use her H & M gift card (you can't order online using a gift card- we tried that) and do some Christmas shopping. We had a good time together and Abby enjoyed picking out items at H & M. We were planning on going from the mall directly to Mason for Alyssa's soccer games at Wall 2 Wall, but Alyssa ended up not playing soccer. She did something to her back Friday evening- maybe she pulled a muscle- we don't know for sure but her back started hurting Friday evening and on Saturday morning, she couldn't walk without pain. We were worried and felt terrible for her. We were disappointed that she would miss two soccer games. By Saturday evening, she could walk fine (but she couldn't run) and she and Donnie went to see a movie. Abby didn't want to go to a movie, so she and I went to Walmart instead. I bought of ton of crafting supplies. I want the girls to make a lot of homemade Christmas ornaments. Abby is excited to do that!
Sunday after church, Donnie went Christmas shopping while I put up the Christmas tree. When he came home, we decorated the tree. I'm excited to have my trees up and decorated!

Alyssa was in motion so this didn't turn out too well, except her cute face is apparent! She was decorating a cookie in the kids' tent.

The festival brought out the craftiness in the girls, especially Abby. She watched a video on making homemade bows and made several. I don't have any pictures of them but they turned out great. At Abby's suggestion, both girls made Merry Christmas signs for their room doors.

Mama has lots of ideas for Christmas crafts; I wonder how many will get done!
