Lunch with daddy and technology

Last Saturday after our second basketball game of the day and before the third, we went to the AT & T store where we upgraded Jacob's phone to an iphone 4S and bought Abby her first phone, an iphone 4S.  Jacob's new phone was a late birthday present; Abby's was because she is almost 10 1/2, the age when Jacob got his first phone.  Naturally, the kids love their new phones.  Alyssa "inherited" Donnie's old iphone which is not a phone anymore, rather a mechanism on which she can play games.  She's placated for now, but I could see her getting a phone at age eight or nine due to her persistent demands and pleas should she get a fancy that she wants a phone prior to age 10 1/2 :-)

Today the kids didn't have school because of a teacher work day.  Yeah!  Sleeping in until 8:30 was much more pleasant than waking up at 6:10!  Donnie asked if we wanted to have lunch with him at Uno's.  Well, yes, the world's best tasting pizza and only pizza that all three kids really like sounded mighty appealing and worth the drive north of Dayton and then around to get to downtown since ALL the exits on I75 to downtown Dayton are closed (oh and seeing Donnie sounded good, too!).

We enjoyed our lunch and seeing Donnie and his office.   Alyssa begged to stay with Donnie at his office until he left for home.  Donnie thought that was a cute idea so Alyssa stayed with him.  When Abby and Jacob and I arrived home, Jacob found a friend to hang out with (Malcolm), Abby painted with some new paints she had just received, and I downloaded a book on  my Kindle, got comfy on the couch and read for a long time.  Contented kids, belly full of good pizza, a good book to read and an old comforter ensconcing my body on the couch, now that's a good day!

The kids smile for me at Uno's with their phones

And we've lost them to technology....

Oh, at least they're interacting a bit with each other and their technology

...not for long (the interacting with each other).  We've lost them again :-(
