Ceaser's Creek

Alyssa's preschool class went to Ceaser's Creek for a field trip on Friday. The weather turned out to be ok- it wasn't raining like it had been the previous few days, but it was muddy for their little hike. Before the hike, the kids were able to see (& touch if they wanted) a snake and a couple of other small animals. Naturally, Alyssa being nature adverse, had no interest in touching the vermin. The kids were able to catch tadpoles in nets. Now that she found fun. I explained to her that we used to catch these all the time in our pond when I was a kid. This didn't impress her too much (as she's adverse to nature), but it did a little because she did enjoy that activity quite a bit.

I was one of the drivers. I drove Alyssa, a girl named Ryliegh, and a "spirited" fun loving boy named Blake. Blake and Alyssa sat in the back. They had the funniest conversation. They sounded so much older than 4 and five years, respectively. After we had been driving for at least ten minutes, Blake turned to Alyssa and said, "Does your mom know where she's going?" Alyssa said, "I don't know" and then to me, "Mom, do you have the GPS on?" It was funnier than it appears written; they sounded so mature, yet they are not mature children at all :-)
