Last Day of School
The kids' last day of school was last Tuesday. To say they were ready for it is to say the least. They had pretty much been looking forward to this day since whatever day in August '11 they started school. Alyssa, going to school for only a half day this year, was the exception to the disliking of school. She loved her teacher this year and really, the work load for kindergartners isn't huge. I hope she ends up liking elementary school better than Jacob and Abby but I have little reason to believe she will! Anyway, the day arrived, despite Jacob and Abby's lamenting that it would never come.

This has nothing to do with the last day of school but these Asiatic lilies are so pretty and bloom for such a short while that I couldn't resist zooming and taking a picture of one.

Kind of a cute story... I forgot to include a beach towel in Alyssa's bag for the picnic the kids were having. I realized it at the bus stop. As soon as Alyssa got on the bus, I got a towel for her and drove it to the school. I realized the kids were unloading from the buses so I decided to see if I could see her. I though I saw her bus, so I started taking pictures. If you look closely, she is just going down the steps of the bus in the middle. I was watching all of the kids who were streaming out of the buses and into the school building (I was standing near the entrance) to hopefully catch her eye. As I was watching a group of kids (she wasn't in that group), suddenly I saw darting towards me a freckle face, already tanned skinned, professional soccer jersey wearer, little girl who threw her arms around me tightly before she headed into school. I think that was one of my favorite kindergarten moments!

Alyssa's teacher had this card for Alyssa. So cute...
I made Alyssa go to school everyday for this? Just kidding, she was really never sick; I would have kept her home if she had been. But really, couldn't this have been printed on card stock? I know that budgetary constraints are a reality, but please. My certificates from elementary look better than this!
