Abby is Eight!
Last Tuesday, Abby turned eight years old. It's hard to believe that my teeny tiny baby is growing up so fast! Abby was so little when she was born- she was six pounds exactly at birth and by the time we brought her home from the hospital, she was five ounces less than that. She had very little interest in eating; she only wanted to sleep. Some things don't change that much- she is not obsessed with eating junk food (unlike her brother and sister) and she needs lots of sleep. On her birthday, Alyssa and I picked up McDonald's for lunch to take to Dennis (she's not obsessed with junk food, but she won't turn it down, either). We had dinner at Skyline and then Abby went to gymnastics where Donnie made sure her coach embarrassed her plenty about it being her birthday. Here are some facts about Abby:
- She is totally tween: She plays really well with a neighbor girl who's five years old and one who's almost ten years old.
- She loves the store Justice, but fortunately, isn't as into the clothes as she is the accessories and toys.
- She loves to write in her various journals, notebooks, and diary's. Her spelling is phonetic at this point so there are many mistakes. Nevertheless, I love to read what she writes (and she's young enough that she doesn't care about that :-)).
- She's great at gymnastics and dance. This year, she choose to do a solo dance for the competitions and recital. She's still learning the routine. It is a good one that incorporates her gymnastic skills.
- She doesn't like icing on cakes, whipping cream on anything or pies of any kind. She does like chocolate, so I know there was no mix up in the delivery room :-).
- She's a great big sister to Alyssa and little sister to Jacob. We love our Abby so!
Here is the only picture of her I took on her birthday.
