Face painting
Abby came up the basement stairs yesterday and said that Alyssa had marker on her face. I assumed that in the process of writing with the marker, some of maker had gotten on her hand which was transferred to her face. Now, along with this assumption came another thought: why were markers in the basement in the first place? I've gleaned some shards of wisdom in my almost nine years of parenting. Among them, always pack extra underwear; carry band aids everywhere you go; there are few hurts that a pack of smarties can't help alleviate; never keep writing utensils in places where the kids will be unattended. To address the latter, two of the cabinets in my kitchen store not kitchen essentials, but finger paint, markers, crayons, coloring books, stamps, etc. Soon after Abby came up the stairs, I heard the unmistakable sound of Alyssa coming up the basement stairs (I think she was giggling). When the door to the basement opened, I was greeted by this beaming face...
