Cincinnati Cup

Jacob's soccer team participated in the Cincinnati Cup tournament over the weekend and they won for their age group! Their team was placed in the highest bracket, meaning they had to play tough teams. Each team played four games over two days and whichever team had the winning most record won. Jacob's team won all four games. On Saturday, they defeated their first opponent 7 -0. Jacob scored two goals and had one assist. In the second game of Sat., Jacob's team won 5-3. Jacob scored the team's first goal. On Sunday, the team played twice and overcame deficits to win. In the first game on Sunday, the boys were down 0-2 at one point. They came back to win 4-2. In the second game on Sunday, they won 1-0. Sunday's games were nail biters. We were so proud of the boys!

Jacob and Tommy move to high five each other after another one of Jacob's goals. Tommy and Jacob are both good passers and one assisted the other in at least one goal.

The girls and PaPa Rineer. The girls were pretty good sports about attending all the games considering they don't enjoy watching the games and it was really, really hot. Buying them food helped quite a bit. After our first game on Sunday, many of us went to eat at Cracker Barrel. PaPa bought a hat for Jacob (Ohio State, ugh!) and let the girls pick out something they wanted. Abby picked the crown and Alyssa a wand. Getting the toys helped their attitude quite a bit!

It was so, I don't know the word for it, cute or touching, I suppose- after the boys won their final game on Sunday, they locked arms and walked from the field to the tent where the trophies were together.
